Hello all.

Recently I started another new forum. Have had a couple trickling in (so far), but my forum seems to be getting plaqued with spammers. I have no idea how they are getting in. I have disabled all mods, and they are still getting in.

Today, when I went to delete one of the threads. It asked me to verify my password once again to submit my request. I had never seen this before, it was in the thread. I reluctantly entered the password, and then proceeded to change my password. Is this something to be concerned about?

It just sounds like you have enabled inline moderation authentication. You can turn it off in vboptions > general settings.

Are you getting hackers or spammers? They are two totally different creatures. Hackers will delete your board or your database or insert malicious code or..... A Spammer just posts porn links, or viagra links, or WoW links.

For Hackers, secure your board - How To Make My Forums More Secure (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=194701)

For Spammers, search the mod forum for "spam*" in the title and you'll find a ton of mods to help with spam. Or, search this forum for "spam*" in the title to see one of hundreds of threads about this.

Will do Lynn, thanks. They are spammers.
