I am getting a TON of spam since switching over to vbulletin. It is very frustrating!

Is there a way to block certain email extension (gmail and mail.ru)? They seem to be the biggest culprits.

Under vBulletin Options -> User Banning Options you'll see a box where you can enter IP addresses and email addresses. Change "Enable Banning Options" to "Yes" then under Banned Email Addresses add "@gmail.com" and ".ru" (pretty sure this will work) with a space between each and no quotations. Then enable "Aggressive Email Banning."

However, this is probably not the best option as many legitimate users will probably have @gmail addresses and will be unable to register. vB has some great tools for dealing with spam, you should look into those first. In the vBulletin Options you can scroll down to Spam Management. This will allow you to enter an Askimet or or Typepad API key. The Askimet key is given by registering a free WordPad account, it will check posts for spam if a user's post count is below a certain number (set by you).

There's also various plugins that will help you fight spam. Here's a couple...

Enhanced CAPTCHA - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=132482
Moderate Signups Based on Geography - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=205044

Also, be sure that you have the option to verify email after registering turned on.
