Please post any bugs you encounter. We will be making an updated version with a lot more features. Feel free to post any suggestions & comments.

Updates Since 3.7 version
Added admin panel to edit settings. See image attachments.
Race bonuses actually do something now.
Can reset entire game
Can delete user so they can start again.

About the Game
vBArmy is a game for vBulletin.

Each member begins their adventure by choosing a Race which had certain advantages over other races. They begin with a few soldiers and a bit of gold, and must build their army by fighting other players.

Players can buy weapons for their soldiers to increase their attack strength, and buy armor to increase their soldier's defense strength. However, each soldier can only use one weapon and one item of armor. Players can also upgrade their Defense and Offense to increase their defensive and offensive strengths by a percentage.

Players can browse through a list of participating players. They can conduct intelligence operations by sending Spies, which cost a set amount of gold to purchase. The more spies you send, the more accurate the intelligence you gather will be. Gathered intelligence gives you an estimate of the players total gold, offensive power, and defensive power.

If you choose to attack a player you must use "Turns." You only get a certain amount of turns every cycle set by the admin. The more turns you use, the more gold you will steal from your opponent. Be warned though, your opponent will know that you attacked them by viewing their Defense Log and being notified by pm.

Naturally it is important to grow your army. The only way to get soldiers in the game is to have your friends click your "Recruitment Link" They can only click it once every (admin set minutes), and each time they do you will receive an (admin set amount) of soldiers.

Please click Install, there will be a status notification upon the release of major updates.

Ok i uploaded the files and done the import of the the product file now what as the only setting i see in the admin panel are Admin userid & usergroupids admin.

I can not see how to set it up or am i missing somthing ? are there any instructions on how to play the game ?

BTW i have not marked as installed yet as only testing on our test site will mark as installed if we use it on our live site.

Lethal Geass, I love this plugin and I have it installed. Is it possible that weapons and defence/offence upgrades can be changed per class? That each class has its own weapons/upgrades? That would really rock! :D.

Oh, and rule/announcements would be awesome so you can add / edit your own text in the home base for example.

I still have no clue how the system works tho as i dont seem to have any gold ect :) but i have only just started to look in to it.

TBH i think they assume eveyone knows how to install it and how the system works.

you can gain the starting gold once you set up the settings located at yoursiteforumlink/armysystem_admin.php?do=editgamesettings <-, once you save these settings, regardless if already filled in for you, it'll have effect.

Currently, you start with 0 gold, 0 army, and the list goes on. Just go to that page, scroll down and click on "save" for the default settings to take effect (you don't have to edit anything if you wish to leave it with the games default settings). Then Reset everything and choose your class and you'll see you get the default gold, army, etc.

I've already answered that part in my above replies:
you can gain the starting gold once you set up the settings located at yoursiteforumlink/armysystem_admin.php?do=editgamesettings <-, once you save these settings, regardless if already filled in for you, it'll have effect.

Currently, you start with 0 gold, 0 army, and the list goes on. Just go to that page, scroll down and click on "save" for the default settings to take effect (you don't have to edit anything if you wish to leave it with the games default settings). Then Reset everything and choose your class and you'll see you get the default gold, army, etc.

Wow... this is very nice... got it working great...

Just... the templates... my god... FUGLY, and so many uncached templates... This makes me worry. If a mod looks as unprofessional as this in presentation, it makes we wonder about the quality of the code behind the scenes. Any security risks I should be aware of?

nice to know an update is out for this. I suppose my number 1 request would be to have the code 100% optimized, secured etc. and then I would love to see the new features after that.

Great Modification, thanks. But i have to make some suggestions:
1. Would it be possible to use vb- Phrases, so that it would be easier for translation (if help is needed, i would try myself on a german translation)
2. I would prefer it, if there would be the Option to recieve Recruits with each cycle (set by the Admin)
3. Army training would be a good idea
4. A Highscore would be nice

Any updates in mind? So far, this game needs:

1), Banking system, to store gold. And of course, you should be able to alter the tax %.
2), Better / Secure system for new players.
3), Vacation mode to prevent in being attacked
4), Option to disable / shutdown the PM feature.
5), Weapons and Defence in army to be different for all classes.
6), As 5, this includes for upgrades as well.
7), Able to edit's people complete information, including the soldiers, gold, etc.
8), It seems to be impossible to catch someone who's really far ahead. Wouldn't this be quite unfair?
9), Announcement place and or a page where you can set your own rules, information, tutorials, etc.

Great plugin btw! :D

You need to restart the game after saving game settings to get the initial gold.

Hmm, I uploaded everything and installed the XML, but it just isn't there for me. It says it's installed into my plugins, but the product is completely inactive and I get that error message when I test out the url.

And ideas?

Amazing. Everything worked for me after a few tweaks.

Note: If you do not change the starting money & THEN reset the game, all users will start with 0 gold.

As for the bonuses & such, users must have atleast 1% of each in order for them to even appear as 0%. Leaving them at 0% will make it so no stats appear.

But this would require a whole game reset as stated before correct?

Is their a work around to making updates without the need to reset? I already have about 40 people playing & several have a TON of recruits already. I am sure if I had to make an update like slightly change the cash flow, they wouldn't want a reset... =/

What are the odds of implementing a "gold per post" option in the future? This game has only be on my site for a little over a day & we have 6 pages of people playing & sending suggestions already. This was one of the main ones!

I'm using 3.8.1

I get the white screen and standard error message as well. But also, my product is inactive. Like in the Plugin Management folder in my ACP, it lists VBArmy as installed, but it's completely inactive. Just a title and that's it.

PS: Is there anyway to sort of customize a few thigs? Like the terminology? I want to sort of gear it towards the theme of my site (http://www.fightlockdown.com/forum). And am willing to rock your brand on my footer if you'd like.

I suggest a method for exchanging user points/credits/etc for vbarmy gold with an admin definable "exchange rates" for converting back and forth (if back is even allowed).

Such a system would ideally be part of the user points and store system that add-ons like vb army could plug in to reuse the code.

Anyway thats my 25 cents. Neat mod!

Thats normal, you can add in your own text on that page via editing the relevant template.

Here is part of the error code I'm getting as a result of my users in box filling up with PM's. I can't post the entire error here because the post stalls.

I'd hate to uninstall the game because my users like it - but this is going to be problematic with the errors.

For those of you requesting a "bank" system, the easiest temporary bank system I would say would be to create an item with a small resell penalty. For example:

Item name: Backpack
Cost: 1,000 gold
Resell cost: 3%
Defence bonus: 0%

This way, users can bank their 1,000 gold & can do this for every 1,000 gold (or whatever price you determine). Once they sell the item back, they will only lose 3% (or whatever % you determine).

This way people can sleep without worry =)

This is bad for most players as no banking system or set amount of gold can be stolen from a single person. Users are waiting for the game to reset & simply attacking the AFK players for easy money.

Suggestion: The cycle should be based off of when the users joined the game so everyones cycle time is different. Eventually you could possibly learn 1 persons cycle but that's better than having all of the online players banking on the idle players.

that is a good idea, because my users do the same thing, when people aren't online they attack other people when the cycle restarts, and take all their gold. and they then get powerful, and hard to succeed in an attack. if this were possible it would be a good thing to do.

Seems like a silly reason not to install the mod. I think more people rather NOT have images since it gives more to the imagination. I mean whens the last time you seen a "purple crystal dragon skin vest" on google images =P

Options to upload armor or weapons images would be great, as i have changed the mod to a frontlines fuel of war theme.
but i agree with Sugoi na, it does seem a little silly not to install it for that reason.

Just removed the private message function. I suggest everyone downloads and overwrites the php files.

Bug Update: Just fixed an issue with private messages
(apparently I didn't fully remove private messages from the mod and people were receiving emails about a private message that they couldn't see.)

If you already have this installed just update att_include.php with the one inside the attached zip.

one of my users told me about a glitch or something with the buying and selling of weapons. He would buy as many swords as he could for 20 gold, and then sell them for 30 gold...
so he was able to build up his offense and defense really quickly. there was no where in the settings that showed that to be allowed either. When i sold stuff it would be for less then what i bought it for.

Anyway to set the amount of gold that can be stolen? (again intergration with town upgrades could be useful here, gold reserve could hold a certain amount of gold away from attackers for example lets say 100 gold per level of gold reserve, that amount would be safe during an attack)

ditto here too... the members absolutely love it, as i do too. some great ideas outlined here above.

One glitch in the game is the recruitment link. I've set it to 4 hours every click. yet when i try to click i get an error alerting me to the fact that i have already clicked once in the last 24 hours. soldiers also never seem to go below 99, and once you have over 100 it seems really easy to fall back down to 99 again.


as well as all the ideas above i think an extra atribute is in order.... LUCK. as well as ones determining attributes, it would be great if we could still figure luck in by a roll of the dice. although that would probably be a modification in itself. which could of course be incorporated into a lot of mod's. with luck, even if somebody is more powerful than you, you still have a chance of winning.

A few suggestions for vBArmy, some of these I already PM'd you when you first posted the MOD Lethal Geass.


1) High Scores, create a high scores block with: the ruling warlord, based on who has the most gold, men and assets. And the next two highest ranking users, like, general and then commander in the first table and list the last 5 battles or skirmishes game wide in the second, so everyone knows who is or has attacked whom.

2) Errors, need to get "all" the error messages on the games page with the mods side navigation available, as anytime you don't have enough gold or can't do something it takes you away from the game to the default vbulletin error message and the user has to click back on the navbar and then back to where they were, rather then click "close" or back on the games navigation menu.

3) Recruitment, option to set per day, how many units a user gets/recruits automatically also option to set (%) chance and (%) how many may defect the users army.

3a) Change the recruitment box and link, since with the above change you can set an auto recruit amount, the recruitment box should be for referring someone to the site. Ergo: Invitation System, once a referral completes registration on the site, the user who recruited them gets x amount of units (army) and (x) amount of gold. /else just use that window for the diplomats to make allies and list them with stats.

4) Diplomat, were you can form treaties with other players, giving each of them attack and defense bonus (%), however costing each (x) amount of gold per day (cycle) to keep up with the expenses of a coalition. Also information on your ally is more accurate with spies, and if you break a treaty you get extra (%) of turns VS that user since its a sneak attack on a former allied nation. This will give everyone a reason to ally yet make them all wary of them.


6) Resources, add a way to increase gold production (other then raiding). Some kind of resource production perhaps / land owning, mine, forest. User can use turns to gather resources, they can purchase these tradesman like armor or weapons, ergo: miner, woodsman or farmer.. They would get (x) amount of gold per each one working.

7) Combat, adjust the combat losses,there needs to be a better outcome and possibility of larger losses other then just the one unit and gold driving the need for people to make alliances, playing it safe for a few days till they can replenish numbers and so on, adding more dynamic to the game.

7a) Perhaps create script to display the combat in real time between units fighting. (display dice roll or calculations)

8) Plug-in, add plug in to work with (vBExperience) and or other posting credit modifications.

9) Banking, system (Vault), though attackable by enemy at a greatly reduced chance of success and high (unit) loss.

10) Spies, can also have a (%) chance to assassinate leaders, and can be sent on a mission to do so by checking a box, if successful the other player suffers an (admin set %) turn penalty while his county elects a new leader. Ergo: if the game setting was (100%) and the spy succeeded in assassinating the user, then that player would lose all current turns available to them until the next cycle, simulating total chaos in their country being unable to retaliate. If however it was set at or around (50%) then it could simulate that the generals or commanders took control over the army and carried out what maneuvers they could until a new leader was elected at the next cycle.


If I think of more I will add them to this list so they are in one place.. :up:

It seems that race abilitys (attack, defense, gold, and turn) doesnt work. I did the calculations with a few of my members and everything adds up untill we factor in the race abilitys. They dont get added!

Attack: Confirmed that it doesnt work
Defense: Confirmed that it doesnt work
Gold: Seems to work, but the numbers were just alittle off.
turn: Confirmed that it doesnt work

Yea after looking into it i realized the images are nothing useful, they can get replaced for each new game. lol

I joined a game, & had a friend join so we can test it out a little before i make it public.. but we are both sitting on our thumbs wondering what to do.?
We have no turns, no spies, nothing.!?

In the settings it says we start with all kinds of stuff, but why dont i see those things.?
Is there a start game button, or something.?

Also what is the recruitment thing...? if i click on it it shows me a number & gives me 8 optional numbers to click on..?
Am i supposed to match the number, or what.!?
There are no explanations on that recruit page.. so its pretty confusing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.!

Yep does the same on mine, also members can use the sign up links via a proxy to give them unlimited signups as you do not need a member to join only to confirm a number ;)

One of my members recently figured out that you could type in 0.5 and still get a spy. i tried it on less than that (0.02 for e.g) but it just takes your gold without giving a spy. 0.5 though will take 25 GP and still give you a spy.

just figured out you can also do it with weapons etc. so a 5% take off means nothing when you can buy items at 50% of the mark up. bug needs to be fixed.

another glitch is that you can actually attack players with -attacks. so -100 attacks will actually add 100 turns to your attacks while also stealing gold.

the game in its present state is unplayable.



edit** Selling .4 of something gives you the money for it, and does nothing to your inventory. Same goes for .5

Selling .9 of your last of something leaves the option of selling 0 of the items. It has a remainder of some sort, but you are unable to sell .001 from that 0. It can be cleared from your inventory list by buying and selling another one.

now players wont be devestated when they loose like half or all the money they saved up... now they will loose between 0 and 1/4 of the money they have.

can also be changed to like loose 1/10 of the money since you get multiple turns...

Sorry my fault, it has to be like this... only problem is it won't give you an error, it just wont process it... nother problem is you can still do 1.5 and 2.5 or whatever... however you won't be able to sell nothing and get away with it.

It is nice to see this mod progressing since I have tracked this mod for at least the last 3 years when the other coder was making it. But I just wish those last few bugs would be gone so I can install it. Marked as installed and will keep an eye on it.

What about the template problems? And do they actually look better now?

I mean, besides the uncached templates, I'm talking about how UGLY this mod looks. This mod doesn't seem to match up correctly with the default VB skin. Attached some screenshots of it displays on my forums...

1. No borders around the mod shell, instead the table for the mod is PADDED...
2. Where did that UGLY gray background come from? It should be alt2, not this default gray.
3. No borders within the mod pages itself. All tables should follow the vb styles.

The third screenshot is how a mod SHOULD look.

Fixes: Negative values are invalid. Float values i.e 0.5 in buying and selling items are now rounded.

Template problem will be fixed shortly. However its not hard for you to go through yourself and change it where you see it necessary.

I found a way of the member cheating quite easy and I have alot of members that have discovered this allready. They can click on the link to recruit members and it will add one to there army. Then if you have another computer you can do it again, then after an hour or two you can do this all over again. Is there a quick fix for this so I can stop this.

You can change this in the admin options menu, to change it from 2 hours to any hour you desire. And this is not exactly a "cheat". You have to gain an army somehow. If people refuse to click the link, you can do it yourself.

I'd say it should be an option, rather than making it a requirement. So people can choose which one they see fit, for both small, medium to large forums.

I set it for 720 minutes and I can still go in every once in a while with one computer and give my self a recruit then go in on my I phone and give myself another recruit. And then I waited 2 hrs and just did it with both computers again. I would say that is not 12 hours. Can you look at this. If I do this right after another it says you cannot do for 24 hours.

both of these games sound like the perfect kind of forum games for vbulletin, very surprised one hasn't been written already and fully functional. would be great if the script you are working on works with forum activity, or if this one is patches to support forum activity. just a suggestion.

You could probably do that yourself if you wanted, just have to change it from logging the IP to logging the User id...

A rank system would be nice, so that players with big armies can't destroy newcomers... Otherwise anything new is greatly appreciated and the bugs are my only main beef which have been in most part fixed....

what would be amazing is if you could make something like the old

this was a classic bbs game, people improve resources, grow population, buy weapons, make treaties... they could also construct super weapons (http://www.johndaileysoftware.com/images/screenshots/img-screen_brehelp2.gif) and send them to other sites who also had this game installed. these super attacks would hit another site and hamper economic growth untill everyone on that site joined together to destroy it.

imagine this as a strategy based vB game that could actually interact with other vB sites on a "known universe list" (could just be a few sites that are friends with each other or a huge list kept here @ vB.org)

To the author: everyone will want something different for this mod. Best to keep it simple and generic so it fits the needs for all. Getting into different game types with various resources and populations will not be what everyone wants. If possible making these sorts of options customizable would be great, but otherwise don't get too fancy!

This mod is not stable & should more or less be in "BETA" stage. It's simply not ready for communities who are blood hungry because they will tear these bugs apart!

I do however look forward to the future release.

This is a great mod.
At first I had problem starting the game but after reading the thread, it turned out that I need to first save the setting and then reset the game for all the settings to take effect.

Must say I impressed. I like this game, but it should have proper readme.txt.

Yes. Take a moment to read the description.

You find pictures to upload & you create the items. This is all done very simply as if you were creating a forum post or such. It's all how make the updates. My first attempt I simply made this an anime based army system.

I only uninstalled it due to the large amount of bugs.

A Vbulletin of BRE would be in a word AWESOME! as an avid BRE'er back in the Day it was a game way ahead of its time. the Great thing about BRE is it brought back the users on a daily basis just to play their turn, and fight for the cause..

Any reason it works so slow? The part which is slow is everytime you click a button (button not link) it wont go anywhere for several minutes, but if you press the button (select race, attack, etc.) and refresh the page it loads normaly. Any ideas on this?

In the Style manager > Style > Why did this add 58 templates to the list, rather than one "vBArmy" header template.?
Did i do something wrong or is that how it is on everyones..?

I'm running into a problem with the recruit another member system...when a member clicks the correct number, it keeps saying it's incorrect.

I see that this issue has been posted earlier on in the thread with no response.
