Non-vB Site Asking For vBulletin Customer Number?

Recently, i went to register on forums.webdosser.com

I noted in thier registration process they ask for my vBulletin customer number.

I have 2 queries;

1) is this safe to give out, and are they allowed to ask it?
2) if it is, where would mine be? I use firefox and it remembers passwords and the like.

No way man, Thats Damm Cheeky if you ask me :eek:

That site is not affilated or anyway involved with VBulletin at all, Giving them your customer number, you might as well give them all your online banking details :erm:

They have no legal way of checking your customer details with Jelsoft/vBulletin .

Would you send me your credit card number if I said I had to have it for registration on my forum?

You would be crazy to give them that information,simple answer DONT!!!

Think about this a minute,they get your username,email,IP address and your customer number .......... goodbye to your licence,

Thats what I thought, hence why I closed the tab, came straight here to ask.

God knows why they would ask for your VB Customer number for, I belong to a few VB type forums, Styles and Coding types of forums and never has anyone asked me for my VB customer number. I guess that the admin added that hoping that someone would be gullible enough to give it to them.

Glad you didn't and came and posted here, let this be a warning for other members

NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR VBULLETIN CUSTOMER NUMBER :mad:

I don't understand why they need YOUR vb number to join a forum?haha

What happens if you don't own a forum? I wouldn't join them at all!!

They are allowed to ask for it, but you are not allowed to disclose that information. ;)

PS You should never give out your customernumber to anyone but in a support ticket at vB.com.
