skin install...help please

can someone write out the instructions to install a skin I just purchaced, I downloaded it to my desktop and when I go to import it in my admin panel this is what it says "XML Error: Empty document at Line 0", do I need to upzip it??..I'm a noob to all thism thx for your help

The file that you import should have an .xml extension. If the file you downloaded has a .zip or .rar extension, then yes, you need to unzip it.

There are no standard instructions to install a style, as this will depend on the style. If you have purchased this style, then you should ask the site where you purchased it from.
