A Support Project (http://www.tinykingdoms.com/forum/project.php?projectid=1) using the vBulletin Project Tool has been created to support this mod. Please make use of it if you can. Timely support will still be given in this thread, however, use of the project tool is appreciated because:

It makes searching for problems already asked by other users, and possibly solved, much easier than this long thread.
It helps organize and manage issues for me, which will become even more useful as I release more mods.


Description:
Ever want to throw something at someone when you read a post? Now you can! Eggs, kisses, bullets, and more.

Special Notes:

Due to some complicated issues involving the coding for animated gifs, largely black eggs (like the bullethole) do not display properly. All that is required, if you make or find your own eggs, is that large black areas be converted to a dark grey or dark blue. I've already done this with the newest bullethole.gif, and as you can see it's not a big issue but I wanted to make everyone aware of it.
If you wish to uninstall please upgrade to the lastest version first, as older versions may not uninstall cleanly.

Install:
Download the [tk] EggAvatar_2.3.4.zip file.
Unzip and upload all files in the upload directory to your forum root.
Import the product file in your admincp.
Make sure to set usergroup permissions - all are turned off by default.

Install vbAdvanced Module:
Import and configure the eggblock.xml module via vbAdvanced in your admincp.

Upgrade:
Download the [tk] EggAvatar_2.3.4.zip file.
Unzip and upload all files in the upload directory to your forum root.
Import the product file in your admincp - make sure Allow Overwrite is set to 'yes'.

2.2.1 Added additional error checking to the image manager. Fixed the upload button in the image manager.

2.3 Fixed permissions issues. Fixed a couple more words that weren't phrased. Added support for ImageMagick. Added support for vB Optimise. Added statistics on forum home. Changed the fade time so the eggs won't fade if the user hasn't logged in to see them yet.
2.3.1 Fixed bug in vB Optimise integration.
2.3.2 Fixed bug if paths to avatars has a leading '/'.
2.3.3 Another attempt at fixing the pop 'eggs out of the box' issue. Probably my last for a while. Good luck, cross fingers.
2.3.4 Fixes a "can't view if can't egg" permissions problem that has been plaguing some users. Adds a vbAdvanced Module.

Okay, there was more I could do that I thought.

It detects animated avatars and they work now. They freeze when 'egged', and will start moving again as soon as they are clean.

When I activate this product the avatars show red x's. When it's disabled they're fine. I have all avatars saved in the file directory instead of database.

Make the avatar a background, it should still work. I use Profile Photos on forumhome, and I use rounded corners on top of them for effect. Animations still come thru.

Good news. I've discovered a way to make it work with the file system, and just about any other setup. It will also work with animated avatars without stopping the animation. It's in progress now, and will be in the next point release within the day.

Not yet. I *just* figured out how to handle the file system and am coding that as we speak. Then after a short rest I intended to make the images user customizable for version 1.3. You'll be able to enable or disable images, set their individual costs, upload your own new images, etc.

First things first though. There's always new features waiting lol.

I had it installed and when it's activated but no permissions are set things work fine but once I updated the permissions for all usergroups to be able to use all features the avatars turned into red x's.

Also, if I click on sign (icon) to egg someon, then is not opened egg menu (from this mod) but opened is user menu (when you click on username next to avatar --- look at the picture below).

Sounds like the javascript file isn't getting injected. That happens in the global_setup_complete hook.

Make sure the hook isn't getting stepped on by another mod - and that your style didn't strip out $headinclude.

Yes, I have vbcredits on my system, and it works without any configuration needed. Just enable credits use in the Egg Avatar options.

You should not be able to egg yourself - the problem must be something else. What you should see is either a nothing to do error message, or options to clean if appropriate. See attachments.

It didn't uninstall properly. Uninstall it, and reinstall. If it still doesn't work them you'll have to manually delete the column eggavatarpermissions from your database (though I'm not sure why uninstalling first wouldn't do that for you).

You mean they stop being animated when egged? They should go back to being animated when cleaned.

This is on the list of things I will fix eventually, but, I may leave the current way as an option when I do.

You are correct - thank you. I fixed it. I didn't bother with a point release since I had just released this version and it's a minor fix. If you already have 1.2.2 installed then don't reinstall, just unzip the zip file and upload the files again.

It didn't uninstall properly. Uninstall it, and reinstall. If it still doesn't work them you'll have to manually delete the column eggavatarpermissions from your database (though I'm not sure why uninstalling first wouldn't do that for you).


Same thing happened to me on upgrade so I had to uninstall and then reinstall to upgrade which wiped all the previous eggings.

Hmmm. I'm going to put in a generic error message for no user id, but I'll also see if I can figure out what might be causing the specific issue. I'll keep you posted. It works fine for all other actions (egging someone else, cleaning someone else, etc?)

There is no reason for it to show up on private messages - they don't even have a postbit, unless you've got some mod or style change that adds that stuff in.

Sorry, not showing up on mine either.
Make sure you go into all the usergroups and set their permissions to be able to see and throw eggs. Other than that, I can't see any reason for the button to not show up, unless your postbit has been pretty heavily modified. It positions itself using the 'online' button.

If you try to click on the menu before the page is finished loading that is when I got errors. It seems like that is the only time. After I get the error, the post of the person that I was going to throw an egg at disappears.

Why? It's not a bad idea. I've kept the information from the start with the idea of maybe doing something with it. A log of who egged you, and perhaps a "This post has been egged x times" thingy on the postbit.

Given it's popularity, I'll install Live Topic and see if I can't work out a fix for the next release.

Since we're running well now, I'm not doing any bug releases unless something nasty comes up. I'm starting work on 2.0.

Good catch. Once again you are all being very patient and helpful. I've updated the eggavatar.php file with the fix, just upload it - no need to reinstall or reimport.

I'd just like to make the scroll-out window smaller in width.

I'm also trying to change the location of the icon to right after the 'reputation' icon, and before the 'infractions' icon. :) I have a neat little mini egg to use.

I tried editing the "Add Postbit Control" plug-in to change the replacement text it searches for in the 'eval', but that did not work.

Any pointers in these two areas will be terrific!

Resolved :up: it was my error as I'd broke the template :o

Ok, I have a member that's using IE 7 and says he gets a little box.....says Windows Internet Explorer at the top and "Invalid action attempted" below it when he clicks the button to throw an object.

He says that when we were using 1.2.1 it was working fine.

You can change the graphic to anything you want, it's configurable. The hover text is a good idea, I'll add that to the 2.0 list.

This version doesn't work with external avatars (urls) - for example the avatars form the Fascebook Connect mod. That's already been fixed, and will be in the next release.

The problem I'm having:

Registered users can not see/ or clean an egged avatar.

If a mod eggs a mod, both mods can see it- not registered users.

If a mod eggs a user- a different mod can see the egging- not registered users.

I love the mod but I only want VIP's to use it, and Registered users "only view" the eggings until they become VIP,.....


Was this intentionally made this way, or was it just a mishap? Any way to make it so the reg users "can" view, "can" cleanothers, & "not" egg, ?? Setting it up like this makes registered users not see anything at all.....

Thanks for a fast response, it's a little weird- even when I have user groups set to:"View only" and the rest off- they still cant see when someone gets egged.

Is there a way to remove to disable bullets? I've changed the bullet graphic in Admin Options to the kiss.gif but it's still showing up the bulletholes regardless.

Is there a method of removing bullets from being used at all?

2.0 fixes all that, and will be released very soon.

When the avatar got egged...it would distort the avatar image...and the image isn't even animated. Didn't matter what you threw...it would distort the avatar image.

The current version distorts png files, which has been fixed in 2.0. If all goes well, 2.0 should be released within the next few hours.

You are correct - thank you. I fixed it. I didn't bother with a point release since I had just released this version and it's a minor fix. If you already have 1.2.2 installed then don't reinstall, just unzip the zip file and upload the files again.

Fixed a minor bug - didn't bother with a version update. If you just grabbed the download you might want to grab it again.

Change the default egg path in the [tk] Egg Avatar options to whatever is valid for your server. It defaults to images/misc. And of course, make sure said path is writable.

I have a couple of questions?

1. I can't find the setting to turn on/off the option to see who egged them. In my admincp, the only option I have is to manage eggs-add/delete/enable, etc. I've checked the usergroup permissions as well, and I don't see it there? Is this done by hovering your mouse oveer the item thrown at the avatar?

2. The dropdown menu for the selection of what you would like to throw is very long, because of the large spaces between each choice. Is there anything I can edit to make that window smaller, or in a different format?

Or, you could remove the images (or resizes them dynamically) in the clean and egg bits (eggav_cleanbit, eggav_eggbit) templates.

Who egged me coming up as Unknown location in WOL.

Would love to add additional items, as well...like darts, a harpoon, and anything else someone would deem funny....even a flame thrower which singes the outside edges of the avatar.

This mod is great...imagine all the possibilities!

Throw in the kitchen sink! Why not even replace their avatar with something like an "Idiot of the moment" avatar...I mean the possibilities are endless.

You should make it possible for an Admin to add items to throw at people.

Since people can add their own items scrolling in necessary. There is no way for me to handle 20 or 30 or whatever number of items someone might add otherwise.
