Here is what is happening. I noticed I was getting lots of new users. Wasn't sure why, so I checked the IP address...they are all the same or very close. Obviously it's the same person or bot. We're talking like 200 members in the last 3 days.

Here is what I have done:

His IP Address is: 194.8.75.149

I went into VB options and banned his ip address this way:
(194.8.75),(194.8.75.149),(194.8.75*),

I also enabled IP Banning.

But he is still able to register under that IP address and add new users!!!

What am I doing wrong??

Get rid of the others and just add 194.8.75.*

That should that care or that IP range. Now your going to have to keep an eye out on it because they well start coming in on other IP ranges.

Good Luck,
Kyle

1. do not put them in ( )

2. you only need to add 194.8.75

3. I add one IP per line, to jumbled when you add multiple IP's per line.

4. Its better to add the ip in a htaccess file anyways, that will disallow access to the server totally.

Try google "htaccess deny"

that actually didn't fix it at all.....

any other thoughts....

i'm confused about why this ip address

194.8.75.149 can still access the forum and register
