Images - is this a bad idea?

Normally, I use Photobucket for posting images on my forum but I started wondering what would happen if I just put them in the images folder of my website instead. I have a dozen or so common images/logos that I use all the time and get tired of trying to find them on Photobucket to use in a post.

I tried it and it works fine. Are there drawbacks to using this method over Photobucket? Security problems? Bandwith stealing issues?

By storing images on your server, people would be downloading them off your server. Using an external image hosting service, people will download them off that service's server(s), thus saving you bandwidth.
