Popsodia.com is what originally drew me to vBulletin and vBadvanced. Some time a while back I ran across a blog site that featured a tag cloud for individual blogs. I was amazed at the concept of the word size based on the frequency of use... I wondered what would happen if you did this in a Social Networking environment. Later, the name "Popsodia" came to mind. It matched perfectly to the concept.

I spent almost a month looking for the right solution with a solid foundation on which to build the concept thinking I would have to borrow from the blog software - and I was really happy when I came across vBulletin - they were already using the technology in their community - SOLD!

Right now Popsodia is in it's infancy and I am still working on it - customizing a style to work between vBulletin and vBadvanced is more of a challenge than I originally thought - but it wont stop me! I plan on doing more customization with the tagging technology.

Stop by and enjoy - I would love to hear from you!

www.Popsodia.com (http://www.popsodia.com/)

The site's mission:

PopSodia! is a FREE social networking project that provides many ways for people to connect. It is a place members can post in forums, have their own blogs, add videos to the video directory - even create social groups!

Wherever possible, members are encouraged to label their entries with "tags". These tags are keywords that are displayed in prominent areas of the site. The more these keywords are used, the bigger they get - letting other members in on what's "bubbling up". (Or they can just feel free to jump into the arcade and try to beat other member's high scores!)

You can also choose the option to "Share This" from any Popsodia! page.

Where did the name PopSodia! come from? It's a little play on words. Soda pop is opened and it bubbles... PopSodia's keywords "bubble up!" This makes the site as refreshing as your favorite soda. Popsodi-Aaaaaaahhhhh! (I know, I know...)

You should put a link to your forums somewhere easy to see on your homepage. I never saw one...

Thanks. I want to put a forum directory as the first tab in the "quick browse" section. I think I will need to start by creating one manually.

Since my last post:

I have installed AME, Ajax Tabs, and SocialForums. The chatter theme has been setup as the sites default.

Stop by and say hello!

I like it, the theme is a bit too bright IMO and you do need a link to your forums in open view, maybe an alternate (darker) theme, and not so many forums, group them into categories and use the Cyb - Sub Forum manager to make it look more tidy, the index is massive.

Example: you have a Sports category. Make that a Sports Forum, and put all the forums in that category as Sub forums, it looks alot tidier IMO, but a good start mate.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll check out the Cyb - Sub Forum manager... I agree that it needs to be tidied up! I will be updating more themes for the users to choose from.

This is my first VB site, so I am learning as I go... coming from a world of phpNuke - this is a far superior app! :)
