Using Promotions/Primary Usergroup

Hi guys,

We're getting close to being ready to go live.
I want to use the promotions feature to move our 'new member' to 'member' after a set number of days from registration. We're restricting posting priveledges for new registrants for a couple of days. I set it all up and waited for it to work. It didn't.

I noticed that when a new registrant is awaiting moderation and they are accepted the application moves them to the default usergroup 'member'. I changed that group to 'new member' and set the appropriate permissions and the promotion to 'member'. I then made a custom usergroup 'member' and set those permissions.

I found that the promotion didn't occur moving the member from the default UGroup to the custom UGroup. Is this because it will only move them into default groups?....?

Can I create new default usergroups?
Can I direct where the moderated registrant is transferred?

If someone would advise me as to how to set it up I'd be greatly appreciative. :)

Promotions (and all other Scheduled Tasks) only work if you have visitors on your forum. did you get enough visitors to run the Promotion scheduled task?
