As of right now my forums are in the /forums directory. I've been debating whether or not to move everything over to the root directory but I'm having second thoughts. What are the main pro's and con's of having the forum in the root directory?

Thanks.

I have mine in the root directory, but that's only because that's all my website has ever been intended to be. When I installed and saw that it mentioned the /forums directory, I didn't see any point in it.

On the other hand, it'd be nice to have my forum files separate from all the other stuff I store on my server.

Folders are for structure purposes and organizational use. If you have only forums on your site, then there is no need what so ever to have them in a "forums" subfolder.

If you use a CMS, or offer other sections to your site such as "News" "Videos" "Pics" etc etc then you could place the forums in the /forums folder, the videos in a /videos folder, pics in a /pics folder etc etc and leave the CMS or News section as the front page as search engines love fresh content!
