WP Integrate - Send vbulletin posts to wordpress

This plugin makes it possible to send your forum posts to wordpress and automatically post them there. Its perfect for posting news etc.

It works together with Complete Wordpress/Vbulletin Bridge. But its not needed. You can use this mod without it.

Installation:
1. Upload the included folder (wp-includes) in the root of your wordpress installation.
2. Then import product-postwordpress_(versionnumber).xml in products at vbulletin.
3. Change the settings at Vbulletin Options

3.1 Since version 1.0 of this plugin the values of "Wordpress Categories" and "Vbulletin Forums" are linked together. This means value 1 of Vbulletin Forums post to value 1 of Wordpress Categories.

So if:
Vbulletin Forums = 1,2,4,4
Wordpress Categories = 11,12,13,14

Forum 1 posts to WP category 11
Forum 2 posts to WP category 12
Forum 4 posts to WP category 13 and 14

So if you want to post multiple categories you have to set them independently for every wordpress category


Upgrade:
1. Uninstall the previous version.
2. Then import product-postwordpress_(versionnumber).xml in products at vbulletin.
3. Change the settings at Vbulletin Options
4. Overwrite the files in the wordpress root.

Troubleshooting:
For wordpress 2.8 users
for the people having troubles install your original formating.php
then open the file and search for:
function sanitize_url

and change it into:
function wp_sanitize_url
If you can't find it you don't have to change it. This should do the trick.


Requirements:
* Wordpress and Vbulletin scripts must reside on the same physical server.
* Wordpress and Vbulletin must use the same domain name.
* Stable Wordpress Version greater than or equal to 2.7.1 (didn't test with 2.7.0 or lower)
* DOES work for Vbulletin 3.8. (not tested with 3.7. or lower)

Limitations:
* Posts won't get deleted in wordpress when you delete them in vbulletin.
* Posts won't get edited in wordpress when you edit them in vbulletin.
* You need the have the charset synced between vbulletin and wordpress.

1. You will need to set those at the same on both vbulletin and Wordpress and it will work.
2. No those tags don't work yet. As you can see this is a alpha release so it doesn't have those features yet.

The only thing I see is:
It works together with Complete Wordpress/Vbulletin Bridge. But its not needed. You can use this mod without it.

Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place or I'm way out in left field.

you don't need to do anything special to install it with the other bridge. Since it doesn't interface with it. You just need to follow the install instructions provided and it will work with the other bridge.

Robert, I didn't mean to sound 'un-friendly' in my post (as it may have come accross that way), I do think it's good work and was just what I was looking for.

The link actually broke the style as it sat to the right of the footer where I have moved the VB copyright up to fit with my style. As I can remove the link to your blog, I may re-add and situate your link elsewhere on the forum, many thanks.

There is another way to do this, but I can't remember how. Isn't this native to both WP and VB where you publish RSS feed links from VB in the WP plugin? I know I did this without any plugins.

no it isn't. Rss feeds won't give you instant update. It always takes the time you give the cronjob to check it. I tried doing this with RSS but ended up making this plugin because its more reliable.

Can you actually set multiple categories and have specific forums (1 to 1) post to those categories? Or, is it only 1 category and 1 forum?

I installed, everything seemed fine, when I tested the first post in the right forum, this is what I got when I clicked to submit post.

no issues when posting in other forums, only the forum that is set to work with WP.

I think this hack has some very good potential...It would be good if posts can be made via multiple forums and into multiple WP categories...maybe even useful that when a post does arrive into WP then a link is place on exactly where the post come from..sorta like a linkback to the forum.

cooltech does make an interesting point about double content. what is the point of having the same content
on the forum, and the blog also...I would think search engines are more into unique content.

maybe a better
idea would be to import the title only in a clickable link into wp rather then the whole forum post, this way the entire post in the forum is not duplicated into wp, just a title that a user that visits the blog can click on and reach the entire post on the forum via the forum link that is in WP. even the title maybe considered duplicate since it would already be on the forum, rather then the entire duplicated post, sorta like a live site map being posted into WP.

this is an awesome concept, and once again you face a duplicate content issue, if you could get around
that and it was unique content posted, then forums/blogs would explode. no one wants to be flagged as
having duplicate content, serves no real purpose.

The duplicate content only counts for the same content on different sites if I'm right. I'm using this plugin myself to post my news on the main site.

Also the reason the you get that error is because your path isn't set right in options. Just look around earlier post to find the solution.

I changed the path too:

../blog/

and now I get a single line error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare sanitize_url() in /home/getpaida/public_html/blog/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 1177

anything that says fatal must not be good.

well you should read the install guide for once. That mean you didn't upload the edited files for WP right. Also you shouldn't use a trailing slash

Dont really see the point of the multiple forums & categories etc.. in this update.. this is not to be taken negative as it does work perfect, this is how I think would be a benefit for me.

Vbulletin Forums
Select the forums you want to send those posts from to wordpress. You can select multiple forums by putting in a comma Eg: 3,8,10 - 10,104

Wordpress Categories
Set the wordpress categories you want your posts to added to. You can select multiple Categories but putting in a comma Eg: 3,8,10 - 3,11

So this is what I would like to see, My post from vb Forums 10 will post to WP Category 3 and vB Forums 104 to WP 11 :)

I don't know what could cause this prolly it's something weird. Well don't worry I will integrate the links soon. Just have patience. But know that for now the index.php integration doesn't work. You would need to send the url with the thread. Since the post doesn't send any thread ID.

This is right and not a bug. For now you only can send posts from multiple forum to multiple forums.

You can't split them from 1 category to 1 forum. I will make something for it soon but for now there isn't a solution for it.

If so do they appear as replies to the thread?

If not, do users have a button to submit a post/thread.

Can it also work in reverse.

So that a new blog within wordpress, upon publish propogates a new thread within VB

it does exactly what it says it does. It send post automatically from selected forums in VB config to wordpress.

For the subdomains it should work as long as you set the path right.

Else the only temporary fix I know for now is to put error reporting off in the .htaccess

ive just installed it mate sorry if i cant give you the advice you need.

as far as i know both wordpress and vbulletin must be on the same server.

i have wordpress as home page www.mysite.com (/home/poof/public_html/)
my forum is /home/poof/public_html/forums
i dont think it matters which folder/root or what ever, long as both are on the same server.
i have wordpress on a separate database on the same server.

as for the thread title, when making a thread on your forums, the thread title and post content is meant to display in wordpress, but for me i only get a thread title.

Is there any way to do the comments without the posts? I prefer to write my posts in WP and then they are posted to the forum from the RSS feed.

Is it possible to use WP Bridge to post to the forum, then use Integrate to get the comments back to WP or am I being stupid?

If it's currently not built in to just do comments, would the code as is be editable for that? I would gladly dig into the code and do it myself if possible.

#1: no there isn't such option. It uses the comments system of vbbridge with isn't being made by me.
#2: Yes VBbridge can work together with WPintegrate. You just have to enable vbbridge in the options and it will use the comments too (both ways).
#3: All code it editable but I am still the owner of the code. so if you make modifications you will have to send them for me to make them public. Else you may not edit nor use them.

I'm not sure what could give problems. Prolly its a setting with savemode and openbasedir or some other server setting.

Yes its possible but you need to be able to make a relative path to the file. And I won't give support for it.

I have a particular forum I have been using to post news and have it currently displayed using the vBadvanced CMS. Is there a way to copy all of these news posts to wordpress? I want to convert to posting news using wordpress but do not want to lose all of these posts if it can be helped.

Since version 1.0 of this plugin the values of "Wordpress Categories" and "Vbulletin Forums" are linked together. This means value 1 of Vbulletin Forums post to value 1 of Wordpress Categories.

So if:
Vbulletin Forums = 1,2,4,4
Wordpress Categories = 11,12,13,14

Forum 1 posts to WP category 11
Forum 2 posts to WP category 12
Forum 4 posts to WP category 13 and 14

So if you want to post multiple categories you have to set them independently for every wordpress category

First you prolly installed a old version of the mod since the link changed from version 1.0

Second you can turn it off in the options but I would really like if you would support this free mod by letting the link stay.

VB --> WP bridges are requested a lot of times and I could have made it paid but I didn't so support me by leaving it on.

if you set the character-sets the same between wordpress and Vbulletin it shouldn't cause any problems.

it uses a splited DB it just sends the post to the wordpress DB.

I didn't test it on vbulletin 3.6 you'll have to test it.

Limitations:
* Posts won't get deleted in wordpress when you delete them in vbulletin.
* Posts won't get edited in wordpress when you edit them in vbulletin.
* You need the have the charset synced between vbulletin and wordpress.

I am using vb 3.8.0 and WP 2.8.3.

My problem is that nothing is happening when I install the mod.
My forum is in the folder "forums" and my WP is uploaded on the main root folder "public_html" but I can't get this thing to work. I've tried using the "../" and some other paths but nothing is clicking.

Also when I try to edit things on my admin in WP it gives me errors. However when I go back to my admin area the changes I tried to make the first time, take effect. The problem is, it gives me fatal errors. Ugh...

I a little confused by this really, and I hope you don't mind me saying, but you haven't documented this very well in terms of installation and how actually works behinde scenes.

I have followed the instructions installed the product in my vB 3.8 and uploaded the file to my WP (latest version to date) but when I just made a new post on one of the forums I mapped onto a Wordpress category, it didn't show up anything on my Wordpress.

Tell me if this is wrong. I have a vBulletin forum with the ID '7' and the corresponding Wordpress category I want those posts to go to id ID '3' so in the options I put in 3 for WP and 7 for VB?

And, my forum in domain.com/forum/ and my wordpress is domain.com/wordpress/ neither are in the root - how will I write this in the options?

I personally don't like uploading and replacing the original file and would rather do the edits myself.

Reason I ask is that my depreciated.php has far more in it than the one you supply with this mod.
I guess this could be because i'm on WP 3.3.2.
But this is the reason why i'd prefer to see the edits you've made so I can try install this myself

That is telling you the files are not on the server. You need to ensure you loaded all the files that came with the mod.

Ok, got it! Sorry guys, totally my bad. I had read through the first 10 pages of this thread and as it was mentioned on page 9, and 10, i had the path written down wrong, so it makes sense that it also looked like i didn't have the files uploaded as ozzy47 mentioned. I had the whole path written down instead of just the "../blog/".

Another quick question. Maybe another stupid one, lol.

When i attach an image to the post, it only shows a link on the wordpress. "Attached to this message is xxxxxxx.jpg" Anyway to just have the image show up on the wp? Thanks.
