Hi,

A rather strage question, but I'm using Firefox and on my bookmarks menu I have a list off all the websites I visit often. I have noticed that some also have a small icon next to the descriptive text on what the website is about(Mac Rumors has the small chopped in half apple icon) so how is this created?

My own Vbulletin forum is bookmarked, howver it just has the Vbulletin icon(as what can be seen in the top left hand corner of this page) next to where it says Vbulleting.org

It is called a "favicon" (favourites, what FF calls bookmarks). You can change it by changing the favicon.ico file inside the forum directory.

You can also do it by putting this tag in the <head> tags

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico">

favicon.ico is the location of your icon. By the way, for it to show it must be in the .ico format. Google .ico converter and there are loads of things on the net to do it all for you.

Hi,

Many thanks for your replies, this is going to sound silly but where exactly do I find the Root folder once loged in via FTP to my server space in order to upload my new .ico file? I have managed to convert a Jpeg file into a .ico file(thanks for the converter info) and I now have it on my Mac's desktop screen...I login to my FTP server area and am greated with several folders:

Logs
tmp
var
web

I'd assume Web is the folder I'd want to select but there is a multitude of subfolder within that main folder so not sure here where to go from there. Sorry but this is all still quite new to me and I'm weary about messing things up with my website.

Michael.
