I assume the various chatroom types and such have been debated to death, can someone point me in the direction of one of these threads?

I am running ver 3.8, and I need to install something quick smart for my members. Is there such a thing as a rolls-royce of all chat rooms? Free though. Lol.

I was formerly running PJIRC, but it was too boring-looking according to most of them. They are after something a little more funky.

Can anyone recommend what they are using? Pretty please.

Flashchat, all of the integration mods are available here also

I would recommend staying with version 4, version 5 is junk

Thanks for that.

So, Flashchat is the only recommendation? Anyone else?

Are you looking for a hosted solution? Or do you want to run it on your server?

Wish to run it on my server - thanks!

Aren't the hosted solutions (the free ones) rife with ads etc?

Not all hosted solutions are filled with ads.

Realchat (www.realchat) integrates perfectly with vBulletin but a bit pricey.

Ok, so for a non-hosted, free chatroom, would FlashChat be one I should consider?

Have you seen/read the other threads about this?

Yeah, I had asked for a link to a previous discussion initially, and I found this one:

So, I guess I will try a few of those out.

I'd recomend using a shoutbox, there are loads for vBulletin, because it will integrate nicely with your forum.

My forum has been running flashchat for over a year now. Its probably the best $5 I have ever spent. It does have its flaws, like sometimes a member will lose connection, but for the price its well worth it.

I have tried another chat module for VB that cost $50 - I am not even going to mention its name. Flastchat for $5 was a lot better then that $50 chat program.
