Limit the amount of time moderators can ban?

I would like to set the system so moderators can only ban for up to 7 days. Is there a way to remove all longer ban terms from the moderator group and leave it so admins can still have the option to permaban and set longer bans?

Just seeing if anyone had any suggestions, fired a mod who had permabanned someone and just looking for a way to ensure it does not happen again.

That cannot be done on a default installation of vBulletin, I have not seen a modification for it either.

If you are familiar PHP, you could try coding this yourself.

Edit the moderators permissions and disable the ability of the moderator to ban members and make sure they can not give custom infractions.

Setup a new automatic ban based on infraction points.

Infractions on my site run like this:

7 point infraction = 7 day ban
10 point infraction = 10 day ban
14 point infraction = 14 day ban
30 point infraction = 30 day ban
..........
180 point infraction = 6 month ban

But if all you want is the ability to ban for 7 days, just create a 7 point infraction, then create an automatic ban based on that infraction.

Be sure to have infractions automatically posted in your moderators forum so you can keep an eye on who is giving them.
