Add image to thread title if there a new post

I was wondering whats the conditional I would use to add a new image if theres a new thread to a forum and for posts. I`m not sure what it would be myself so i thought i`d ask and and see if someone here knows it. Please and thank you.

In the threadbit template, there is this:<if condition="$show['gotonewpost']"><a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]goto=newpost&amp;t=$thread[threadid]" id="thread_gotonew_$thread[realthreadid]"><img class="inlineimg" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/firstnew.gif" alt="$vbphrase[go_to_first_new_post]" border="0" /></a></if>
So, to determine if there is a new post, I suppose $show['gotonewpost'] is what you are looking for.\

EDIT: My bad, I assumed this is what you were looking for--after re-reading your post, I don't think it is.
