View Full Version : Tech Forums - Blue & Silver theme
Ian Cunningham
02-18-2009, 10:00 PM
This theme is a simple blue and silver theme that requires only a few files to be uploaded. The Tech Forum theme was originally custom bought as a design for TechForumz.com (http://www.techforumz.com) but I have never used the skin.
Download (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=96907)
Install (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/vborg_miscactions.php?do=installhack&threadid=205912)If you use this skin, please leave the credit at the bottom of the template intact. Just upload the "techforums" directory to your forum root and then import the XML file.
Here is a screenshot of the theme in action:

Update 19th Feb 2009 - Added new icons on request.

Nice simple style. Thanks.
Might be nice(r) to change out the default icons for something else.

Did you also upload the image files? It doesn't look like they are uploaded, or they are in the wrong location (/techforums).
Edit: I had a look at your forums (here (http://www.ezq.org/forums/?styleid=6)) and it does look like the images aren'y uploaded to the right location. Just upload tham and it will work :)

Looks like I spent $35 bucks for nothing at completevB for a skin. Yours is the exact look I was going for as a default skin. How great it looks on vb.org! I would love to see it on my site however, I believe there is an issue with the .xml file in your latest upload. Not to kick a gifthourse in the mouth but, I felt I should say something.
Tried to ACP import but it says "Invalid File Specified" for the "vbulletin-style.xml"
Not sure what to do.
As well there are no suggestions for where to upload "1.jpg" Its a rather large file and states that it is windows media player file type.
I'm sure this will work at a later date so thanks for your hard work.

UPDATE
Figured out what the .jpg file is. Looks nice! If I could only install .xml file.

where do I upload them? I haven't added styles since my really old 3.5 vb.
Ian Cunningham

The 1.jpg file is just a preview - I'll rename that in the next release :)
The XML file works ok for me on my test site. To upload it:
Log into the AdminCP
Click Styles & Templates
Then Download/Upload Styles
In the "Import Style XML File" section browse for the XML file on your computer
Then click "import" at the bottom of the screen.

Ian,
I have no idea why it would not upload but I went back and tried it again. Boom! It worked like a charm. Thanks very much for replying so quickly with help!
I have actually made it my default skin I like it so much.

Hi Ian,
The style is called blue and is not the default.
The site is www.Christadelphiandiscussion.com
a mouthful I know!
I have slowly been editing the vbadvanced home page image links so they point at the new style images, but I can't seem to edit the navbar or module wrappers.
Any help would be brilliant.

You can change them from the style manager overview page, I guess it's the alt1/alt2 styles you mean?

That's the only little thing I would ask for to release free templates. :)

I don't have Photoshop is there any way I can get the buttons and other graphics used at TechForumz.com or are those copyright?
I really like it for my IT forum but I can't use it because the default buttons and other stuff don't really go with it. I love the ones on that website.

I seem to be having some problems with the forum listing lining up for some reason. As you can see from the screenshot the 'last post' column is not aligning correctly from forum area to forum area.

I will see what I can do to fix the style problem some of you are having. However I have seen this style in use on many sites I visit and plenty have just removed the credits at the bottom :(

Hi Everyone!
I'm new at installing all these vBulletin Styles... so please bare with me. :-)
So I downloaded and installed this style. Love it. Except I can't see the nav bar. The one that says, "UserCP... FAQ... ect..."
I didn't play around with the XML file (I assume that is where it would be)... the only thing I did change was the top Header part.
Did me changing the top header part affect this nav bar? And how exactly can I get the nav bar back?
My site is www.begintochange.com
Thank you in advance for your time... and this great style!

Hi Ian,
Thanks very much for this theme, I'm using it on my brand new forum. I've edited it a little. I was wondering if you could help me with something else I would like to edit.
Please see the attachment. I want to make this part smaller in height, how do I do this?, I assume it's by editing the XML file? or by editing the image sizes?
Thanks in advance,
Patrick :)
Edit;
I managed to sort this myself :D
