Administrator only user profile field

Without installing a modification is it possible to have a user profile field that is only viewable/editable by site administrators?

No.

You can use User Notes and only make them editable/viewable by Admins if what you want to do is add a note about the user.

I thought as much, I did think about user note but it doesn't really work for what I need.
