Pruned posts but statistics not changed

I had alot of spammers come on and post and I pruned their posts but the post count, last post info etc is still the same. I am thinking of rebuilding the statistics but I don't understand what the possible negatives are of doing that.

You should rebuild counters after a mass prune.
