How to modify a style

I have a style on my board (Knockout) and in the threads the users information is on top of the post instead of on the left side of the post. How hard is it to change this from the top of the post to the left side of the post? Where exactly do I start looking to modify something like this?

Edit: Also is there a way to modify the styles to work with 3.8.1?

Try this to have the user info on the side - vboptions > Style & Language Settings > Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template > Yes

As for modifying it to work on 3.8.1..... go through each template that is modified and compare it to the default Jelsoft template and see what Jelsoft added or changed and then add or change that in your template.
