I have a question for the designers here.

I want to appropriately credit for the styles I use, but I have a bit of a problem. I usually don't take to any one style, so I combine graphics from several styles, then add backgrounds and textures of my own creation. The result is a style that is almost unrecognizable from its base template. I am uncertain as to whether to leave a credit when the design is no longer representative of the originators' aesthetic vision.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

You should always leave the copyright within a style no matter how much you edited it. Most people will add additional text, something along the lines for example... A originalsite.com Design Recoded/redesigned By yoursite.com

You should actually credit all the authors from whoms work you have taken bits. If you use graphics from 2 different style (authors), then you should credit both!

(PS Assuming it is for your own use, if you want to ditribute your new style, you will need permission from each author first).

Thanks for your replies, everyone! This is indeed for my own personal use.

Should I be specific about credits? Basic board vs. status icons, for instance?
