[ Older version can be found here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=133365) ]

This nifty little utility will present a list of all of your forums RSS feeds on one page! Your users can then easily pick & choose which forums they want to subscribe to via RSS, Google, Yahoo, or Bloglines.

Ever go to a big site like CNN and view their page of RSS feeds that you can subscribe to? This is the same thing but for your vBulletin forums!

In addition to your users, the search engine spiders will love this! ;)

We went out of our way to make sure that this CinVin vBulletin add-on was quick & easy to both install and modify!
Automatically adds an RSS button to your footer template.
Automatically adds an RSS Feeds link to your navbar template in the Quick Links drop-down menu.
Correctly shows where your visitors are when viewing the Who's Online page.
Forums can be specifically excluded from being listed.
Ability to specify which usergroup to use for permissions when viewing the list of forums.
"Link" forums can be turned off from showing.
All options are configured through the vBulletin ACP.
All descriptions and names are completely phrased so you can quickly add alternate lanquages or change the existing wording.
All display output is handled through vBulletin templates so you can quickly change the output appearance.
All templates and phrase are installed as a vBulletin product through your ACP which means there are no file edits!
Compatible with vBSEO (http://www.vbseo.com/).
Easy integration with vBadvanced CMPS (http://www.vbadvanced.com/).
Debug mode to help you with any problems you may be having.Installation only take a few moments...
Unzip the .zip file that you downloaded.
Upload the single PHP file and single folder in the upload_to_your_forum_folder folder from the download to your forums folder.
Go into your ACP and select Plugins & Products => Manage Products => Add/Import Product => {Select the CinVin_vB_Forum_Feed_Listing.xml file from the download} => ImportYou're all done! Just point your browser to http://www.yoursite.com/forums/cv_rss_feeds.php to view your new RSS feed listings.

DEMO #1: CinVin RSS Feeds (http://www.cinvin.com/forums/cv_rss_feeds.php) (this is the 'stock' version)

DEMO #2: Cool Sci-Fi RSS Feeds (http://www.coolscifi.com/forums/cv_rss_feeds.php) (this one has been integrated with vBa CMPS)

FAQ's
- What vB versions? This should work with all versions of vB 3.6.x and above. It should also work with vB 3.5.x but I have not tested it on that version.

- Can I remove the "CinVin" text at the very bottom? NO! Believe it or not that little text is what allows us to work on hacks like this for free and, more importantly, to continue to support them. You are free to move the notice to your footer template, for example, if you would like to keep your notices all together but for removing it entirely a Branding Free license is available through CinVin (http://www.cinvin.com/).

Revisions
2.4.3
- Fixed issue if "Show Private Forums" is turned on in your ACP then private forums would have also been listed. As of 2.4.3 private forums will not be listed regardless of the ACP option.

2.4.2
- Fixed the "Excluded Forums" option for when multiple forums are selected.

2.4.1
- Fixed an uncached template (cv_ffl_rss_link_in_quicklinks).

2.4.0
- A new feature has been added to automatically add an "RSS Feeds" link to your navbar template in the Quick Links drop-down menu.
- All prior reported issue fixes are included.
- Version jump to 2.4.0

2.3.0
- A new feature has been added to automatically add an RSS button to your footer template as can be seen here at CinVin. The option is turned on by default and can be turned on or off in the ACP.
- Session ID variables have been removed from the cv_ffl_forum_link template as some older styles that were converted to the vB 3.6.x were having some issues.
- The method of including the vBadvanced CMPS file for CMPS 2.x & older has been changed. If you are using CMPS but not integrating the CinVin Forum Feed Listing with it then you may have seen an error at the top of the page.
- For those interested in removing the "CinVin" branding from the footer, the Branding Free License cost has been reduced.

2.2.1
- Private release

2.2.0
- Added new feature to show forums based upon a usergroup ID. The default value is now usergroup ID 1.
- Fixed 'Excluded Forums' option; was not working in all circumstances.
- Fixed display issue introduced in 2.1.1 for vBSEO users.
- Code cleanup.
2.1.1
- Fix for vBSEO users that were having an issue with no forums being listed.

1.x.x - 2.1.0
- Several new features, check your ACP.

1.0.2
- Strip HTML from forum descriptions
- Fixed forum link to go to forum display instead of external.php
- Added additional template (cf_ffl_forum_link) for forum links versus feed links
- Removed logic that would not show a forum if the forum was not listed on the forum jump menu

1.0.1
- Added WOL plugins

Could you PM me with the URL of your site so I can take a look at the footer? A heavily modified template may not be happy with the auto-template code but I'll take a look to see if I can spot the problem.

Which option do I need to turn on for VBSEO?

Whoops! I missed a template from being cached. If you're using the option to automatically add link to your Quick Links drop-down menu, then please download the current version (2.4.1) & re-import the product XML. :o

Which option do I need to turn on for VBSEO?If you're running vBSEO, then turn on ACP => vBulletin Options => CinVin Forum Feed Listing => vBSEO Installed so that your forum links are parsed using vBSEO.

RSS feeds are not showing any content for certain forums...

Just click the link in my signature...then go to Windows 98 forum and check RSS feed afterwards...no content.

Update...

Never mind...threads are over a month old...that's why nothing is showing up.

I have a lot of forums and subforums, so the page gets a bit unwieldy. Is it possible to have alternating row colors to better identify which button goes with which forum?

Update...

Never mind...threads are over a month old...that's why nothing is showing up.

I keep getting a blank page (external.php)..HelpJoesph, as Savior noted above, the output of "external.php" is really controlled through your vBulletin "External Feeds" settings (ACP => vBulletin Options => External Data Provider). Make sure that (a) RSS feeds are turned on and (b) that the forum you're trying to view a feed for has posts that meet the date criteria in your ACP. Also try turning the CinVin Forum Feed Listing "Debug" option on.

I have a lot of forums and subforums, so the page gets a bit unwieldy. Is it possible to have alternating row colors to better identify which button goes with which forum?That's a good idea. I'll try to add it ot the "To Do" list.
Also - did your research into FeedBurner get anywhere?No, sorry. The "Real World" has bitten into much of my time lately. :(

How is possible change the title of RSS?

I would like "Forum title RSS Feeds"Everything is phrased so you'll want to search in Phrase Manager (ACP => Languages & Phrase => Search Phrases) for "RSS Feeds" and enter your translations. :) The title is in there a few different times, for the time different places it appears, so be sure to edit all of them.

I can not tell because you have no public forums that a guest can view so I can not check to see if any of the forums have recent threads or not. Which is likely a good thing since if a guest can not view the forums then they should not be able to view the RSS feeds for it. :o

Check mine out: http://lineolatedparakeet.net/forums/cv_rss_feeds.php

When I click on one of the forum titles (e.g. General Lineolated Parakeet Talk) it attempts to take me to this: http://lineolatedparakeet.net/forums/%3C!--%20BEGIN%20TEMPLATE:%20cv_ffl_forum_link%20--%3Ehttp://lineolatedparakeet.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=11%3C!--%20END%20TEMPLATE:%20cv_ffl_forum_link%20--%3E

Which obviously results in a 404 error. Why is it taking me to the wrong location?

Nevermind, I found the answer: http://www.cinvin.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9521&postcount=7

I have a suggestion: It would be neat if users could tick a checkbox next to the forums they want to subscribe to (in the event that they want to subscribe to multiple forums in one feed) and then at the bottom (below the list of feeds) a feed URL is generated that they can access.
This is similar to MyBB's feed choices (http://community.mybboard.net/misc.php?action=syndication).

I set three forums to not show - 16,36,54.
When you visit the page here http://www.bloodbanktalk.com/forum/cv_rss_feeds.php, you'll see that 16 and 54 show. 36 is admin access only, so fortunately this one doesn't show.
I tried setting the Permissions Usergroup ID to 0 1 and 2 and it still shows up.
Did I miss a setting?

Please check back in a few seconds. or something simular to that. I have enabled the vBSEO and done everything you have suggested. Like i said i have NO experience in this what so ever.

Forgive me if i'm creating you problems...Looks like the Fish will be used on me...:)

This is great - thanks! I have installed it at my photo site (http://www.PhotographersParadise.com).

One question I have is in regard to social forums... Even though these forums are viewable by guests and are on the RSS index, they do not appear to have data pulled. I have checked to see if there is an automated task that runs, but it does not appear that there is...

Any ideas?

It seems like the feeds aren't supported everywhere.

When I try to view them in google chrome I see HTML code in text format.

When I try to import the feeds into phplist for the auto-generated newsletter they also fail.

I could really use some help fixing this. Please...

the feed link i'm using is: http://www.mymodeltalk.com/jobs/exte...hp?forumids=17

It shows fine in firefox for me but folks with older versions of firefox say it doesn't work for them. There must be something wrong. If anyone could help that would be great.

mykkal,

As far as I know Google Chrome doesn't support directly feeds at any kind. I'm was checking this point yesterday because GC was getting more popular everyday between my members because it's so much faster than IE. Even after upgrading GC to 2.0 version still doens't support feeds. If you check GC help for feeds there's nothing there about.
Try to Google "RSS Feed on Google Chrome", you'll find some interesting pages on web about it. There are even some good mods available for free to make GC work with RSS but none of them I tried worked so good as Fire Fox for example.

mykkal
05-27-2009, 11:40 AM
It does support it. Just not all the extra stuff included in the Vbulletin feeds.

Again... Not every newsreader support my VB feeds and people with macs and firefox can't view them while firefox on PCs can.

Can I get some help please? Everywhere I go people want to have a discussion which is fine. But I really need support.

This isn't about google chrome either. I need the feed to actually work. It's not working with phplist anylonger and I can see where the feed is trying to include javascript popups and HTML.

Why isn't it just text?

again its not about looks. Its about the RSS having too much extra garbage in it and not being supported by a lot of news readers.

thank you.This mod does *not* modify your feeds nor does it even create them; that is all done with your external.php file that comes with vBulletin. If you are having problems with your feeds, then it has *nothing* to do with this mod.

Viper357, sorry, but if the error is with the actual "external.php" script then I can not point you in the right direction since that is the stock vBulletin file. :o This script, that displays the list of available feeds, just links to the stock "external.php" file but it does not modify or affect it in any way.

Awesome mod! Works Great! *installed*

Is there a way to specifically list other feeds to be displayed that are not part of the VB default feeds? They don't even have to be dynamic....just a place to list the static URLs of additional feeds so they also get displayed. The point of the mod is to display ALL of the RSS feeds in one place, but it's not taking into account other possible feeds besides the VB defaults. I looked at the templates to see if I could just manually add a few lines of feeds but they are all kinda split up into sections so I didn't see a way to do that easily. Perhaps create a separate template for the static links that gets attached at the end of the VB feeds? If this is not possible currently, that's my suggestion for the next release.

Thanks for the great work :)

Accludetuner, what types of other feeds do you have in mind?

Something I've been toying with in my head is a new option that'd be a list of the most common vB add-ons so that somebody could turn the check box so that a link to (just for example) vBGallery would be included as well.

Found a really quick and dirty way around this for now and figured I'd post it here in case anyone else was impatient and really wanted to get this done like me :)

In template >cv_ffl_forumlist

Find:
$adv_portal_forumlist

Directly after it add:
<tr>

<td class="alt1">
<a href="ACTUAL PAGE URL" title="TITLE FOR YOUR PAGE"><strong>DISPLAYED TITLE</strong></a>
</td>
<td class="alt1" align="center">
<a href="FEED URL" title="TITLE FOR FEED"><img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/cinvin_forum_feed_listing/rss.gif" border="0" alt="ALT TEXT" /></a>
</td>
<td class="alt1" align="center">
<a href="http://add.my.yahoo.com/rss?url=FEED URL" title="TITLE FOR FEED"><img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/cinvin_forum_feed_listing/addtomyyahoo4.gif" border="0" alt="ALT TEXT" /></a>
</td>
<td class="alt1" align="center">
<a href="http://www.bloglines.com/sub/FEED URL" title="TITLE FOR FEED"><img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/cinvin_forum_feed_listing/addtobloglines.gif" border="0" alt="ALT TEXT" /></a>
</td>
<td class="alt1" align="center">
<a href="http://fusion.google.com/add?feedurl=FEED URL" title="TITLE FOR FEED"><img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/cinvin_forum_feed_listing/add-to-google-plus.gif" border="0" alt="ALT TEXT" /></a>
</td>
</tr>
You need to do this for EACH additional feed you want to be displayed and update the parts in RED with the appropriate information.

and to add the space to separate categories or feed types, use the following code:
<tr><td class="alt1" colspan="$vboptions[cv_ffl_colspan]"><br /></td></tr>

And to list a category heading (without any RSS feeds) use the following code:
<tr><td class="alt1" colspan="$vboptions[cv_ffl_colspan]">
<strong><a href="URL TO PAGE" title="PAGE TITLE">DISPLAY TITLE</a></strong>
</td></tr>

I have vbadvanced Links directory with RSS feeds - http://www.vbadvanced.com/products.php?do=productinfo&productid=2

and a few home made RSS feeds that pull content from static pages that get updated about once a month or so.

No, this hack should add a little orange RSS feed icon automatically. Did you upload the images folder and did you import the product file under Manage Products? If you have done everything correctly then it should work, it's a fairly simple hack. Double check where you uploaded the the cv_rss_feeds.php file, is it in the forums directory?

http://www.dumontnjforum.com/forums/external.php?type=RSS2As mentioned above, the file "external.php" is the actual script that comes with vBulletin and is what actually generates your feeds. This script points to that script.

Did you upload the cv_rss_feeds.php file to your server?YesWhere exactly did you upload the file to? The file should have been upload to where your vBulletin is installed at. Did you rename the file?

Do I have to add a new forum link (at the bottom) for the RSS feeds page?If the files were uploaded to the correct locations and if your plugins are turned on then the link should be appearing automatically.

I'll take a look when I'm back at the house tonight; unless you're running an older version of vBSEO with a newer version of the script, or vice versa, then it should be running as expected unless the vBSEO functions got renamed again. ... in which case, I'll check it out tonight. :)

I just installed this and set the permissions to view to registered users (2) but its only letting everyone, even me as an admin view the forums that unregistered users see. On every other forum it shows a blank page and yahoo says there is no rss feed there when I try it that way.

Just one minor suggestion: Maybe you should have the RSS to be text instead of an icon, and place the icon next to it. This will make finding the RSS link a lot easier for unfamiliar users and especially useful in larger forums.

Personally, when I go to any site, I hit Ctrl+f then type RSS to jump to the RSS link. The CinVin plug in will return nothing if you search for RSS using the Ctrl+f command.

Otherwise, great plug in and very easy to install!

KW802...

Not sure if you're aware of this, but for someone who uses W3C to validate their XHTML...it may be of some use.

If one enables the addition of the template name in comments via Admin CP > vBulletin Options > General settings...and goes to W3C to validate the XHTML code...they will find it doesn't validate. However, if you disable the template name in comments, it validates fine.

Here's the code when using this the template names in comments:

<a href="<!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: cv_ffl_forum_link -->
http://glitchpc.com/forums/index.php

The above red text needs to be located outside the <a href> tag in order to be compliant.

Just a "heads up"...

- Fixed issue if "Show Private Forums" is turned on in your ACP then private forums would have also been listed. As of 2.4.3 private forums will not be listed regardless of the ACP option.

I just installed 2.4.3 and all my private forums are showing. I even left the setting to default for usergroup 1.

yes we are all using vbseo like the example search in google (http://www.google.com/search?q=include_once+cv_rss_feeds)

what do you mean have the ACP turned off?

in admincp --> Cinvin Forum feed listing --> vBSEO Installed is checked yes

ah why i dont see this before, all forums that get this error is using vbseo 3.5 above, since vbseo 3.5 above the folder is changed to /vbseo folder

so to fix it, open cv_rss_feeds.php file,

find this

include_once './includes/functions_vbseo.php';

replace with this

include_once './vbseo/includes/functions_vbseo.php';

done, it will fix the error

Hi, I was looking over this thread to see if this product is compatible with vBulletin 4 but couldn't find anything, apologies if I overlooked it. We just upgraded to vbulletin 4.1.3 from 3.8.

We're running version 2.4.3 of this product and I am getting these errors at the top of our pages:

Warning: fetch_template() calls should be replaced by the vB_Template class. Template name: cv_ffl_rss_link_in_quicklinks in [path]/includes/functions.php on line 4097

Warning: fetch_template() calls should be replaced by the vB_Template class. Template name: cv_ffl_rss_button_in_footer in [path]/includes/functions.php on line 4097

There hasn't been too much inquiries about it for vB4 so it has been low on my To Do list. However, with my own sites getting close to making the switch to vB4 also I'll likely be updating this soon for vB4.
