Description:
If your forum using sidebar, you want to give poll out this sidebar, this Mod will do it.

Info:
Plugins: 3
Phrases: 16
Templates: 6
Settings: 5

Install:

1. Import Product via Manage Products
ACP >> Plugins & Products >> Manage Products >> [Add/Import Product]

2. Edit Template:
Add in your sidebar template:

$poll_sidebarwhere you want show "Poll"

3. Settings:
ACP >> vBulletin Options >> Sidebar Polls Settings

PS: Work fine with 3.7.x (Tested)

I went to setup and posted "21" for forum id and selected forum ID as choice. I did global enable as well.

All I get is blank in the side column.

In my poll forum, it totally messed up my font style/size too.

Students...that doesn't make sense. I already have a sidebar as you can see in the link and the output is blank as you can see in that box that says "polls"

Edit template footer, then find:

$forumhome_sidecolumn_right

add below:

$poll_sidebar

Done! :D

Did that, it showed up at the very bottom of the side column. So I cannot adjust where it should go then from here.

Also, still messes up the font style/size as well.

Sorry, I do not understand.

You can create a poll in any forum with your questions, then go to ACP >> vBulletin Options >> Sidebar Polls Settings and enter forumid or threadid of Poll Thread.

I have tried and it showed nothing. And I generally only click "Mark as Installed" when I have it installed AND working! But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this time.

OK, so it does work if I stick it in a template. Sorry.

What I'd like to be able to do though is include it in my custom right hand side menu I have. Which would require me to insert it into a global_start plugin. This does not work. I assume because you're plugins aren't active yet?

What i mean is: to make a poll which can be shown on the index page without making a topic for it in the forums
We should be able to create a poll from ACP where we choose the poll questions, how long will it be displayed and who can vote

Slightly limited. Good mod because its sorta what i was looking for. However there should be an option to select newest poll or all polls in that forumid. Also an option to show more than one forum id.

If I put it on display all the pages it does not in any (FACEBOOK Style).

Hmmm, this mod, when enabled stops my polls from working in the normal threads. Like wise, when I try and vote in the sidebar poll, it doesn't work because the poll functionality isn't working....

I also get this same problem. Blue6995, can you still vote in your normal thread polls? I find that I can't, that the sidebar poll breaks stops me from being able to vote in the polls.

Here's a suggestion:

Go into sidebar_pollresults_table template
comment out: <span>$vbphrase[sidebar_poll]</span>

This mod doesnt work. If you have read the thread, and sometimes when you have not then you have apparently already voted. Also, after voting when you are given the opportunity you are then redirected to the wrong thread.

Hope this gets sorted at some point. Uninstalled, but tagged.

Okay well i managed to get it working fine, but theres one slight problem that i need help with.. I'm asking rather than trying myself as i 1. dont want to waste time and 2. i dont want to mess things up.

As you can see the poll is slightly too big for my navigational bar width.
Can someone please tell me where to change the width of this poll please? :)

I use the same Ultimate Side Column mod, and learned that the individual sidebar template rows don't like to use these phrases, that you would need to use the templates named "usc_sidecolumn_left" or "usc_sidecolumn_right". In any case, I couldn't get this poll mod to show up.

At the bottom of my template I inserted the tag cloud phrase which works, while the sidebar poll phrase wouldn't work for me. Hope this helps.

just make a new thread with the poll in it, take note of that thread id and put that threadid in the options for the sidebarpoll (under the vbulletin options in admincp) make sure to set it to use thread id in there instead of forum id as well

as I said I got that bit working but the plugin makes the poll not actually work (appears to be if that user has seen the thread before voting as others reported)

if this happens to you as well could you please say so, as i've got it disabled until this is fixed

Installed in V3.8.4, the sidebar poll does not display poll results or register votes. It also cripples voting in the normal thread poll. Normal thread poll works okay when sidebar is disabled.

Any suggestions?

UPDATE

Installed the poll only and it does the same thing. When a user votes from the sidebar, it registers the user as having voted but does not update the poll vote tally. Thus, the user is locked out from voting again but his vote is not counted. Also does not show poll results in the sidebar to that user.

Running 3.7.2. When I set "Allpages OR Index?" in Admin Options to "All Pages", the vote doesn't happen. I tested it on a new account and a long time (~400 post) account. First, I set the option to "Index", did a vote on a new account. The vote went through, poll results were updated perfectly. Then I set the option to "All Pages", the vote did not go through (still presented me with voting options), then when I attempted to vote again it said "You already voted on that poll". A possible error?

Also, amazing addon, I love the idea and how it works! Thanks for your work :)

I have the same problem as many others.

This is an incredible hack, but the problem with not allowing to vote is very annoying.
If you already voted on that poll, the results will show up just fine.

I hope ry215, find time to update this into a working version.

Just an update for those who had troubles with polls not submitting in pages other than index.
I made a fairly simple workaround, so you can show the polls in other pages and the voting works correctly.

In vB options, you need to set the polls to show on Index, choose the ThreadID option.
The fix is in the plugin Sidebar Poll Include and this simple replacement does the trick.

Find this (Line 3):
if (THIS_SCRIPT == 'index')

Replace it with:
if (THIS_SCRIPT == 'index' OR THIS_SCRIPT == 'forumdisplay' OR THIS_SCRIPT == 'showthread')

You may change THIS_SCRIPT locations as you wish.
