When you look on this forum home page, see how they have boxes such as the BOTM poll and MOTM poll and how they are going down or portrait... how do you enable that? I want my welcome header and statistics to do that and I cant seem to figure out how.
Much appreciated and many thanks.

There isn't a default vbulletin option to do that. You need to rearrange the page. (That isn't a default vbulletin page either.)

Hmm, do you know how about I go doing that? Or at least point me in the general direction? Is there a hack or mod that will allow me to do that?

It's what you would call a 'portal' page, so you can search on that term. Some people use vbadvanced. There are others, but I've never really looked into them since I just made my own portal using this - [How-To] vBulletin API Basics: Creating Custom Pages & Misc. Mind if I have a peek at what you built to see if that is somethig that I want before I fork over $35? Thanks.

Mine is nothing special - just some site news, the site mission statement, and the latest threads show if you are logged in. I don't think vbadvanced costs anything though, so you can always try it and see if it's what you want.
