Hi, i'm considering using vB as my forum on my site but i have a question prior to purchasing.
My site already requires users to log in in order to run a search on a database/buy from the shop.
My question is whether I will have to make my users log in again to use the forum or whether there is a way of telling the forum that the user has already completed succesful login for the shop/search and the details of the original login are passed to the forum. The database would be 2 seperate databases i.e sales and the forum db.
Surely someone else has come across this scenario and I'd be everso grateful for your experiences.
Regards
Carl

users will need separate accounts on the forum and shop, that is unless you get someone to integrate shop script with vbulletin.

Thanks Guys, I'm kinda moving that way of thinking, was hoping for Nirvana but alas I'll just have to keep hoping. I've had a look at some shop/forum sites and separate logins are required for both sections, but thank you for your comments and time taken to reply.

Basically what you want to do is when a user logs in at your shop, you need to add the code to log them into the forums also (and vice-versa - when a user logs in on the forums, they get logged in at the shop). You'd have to do something to 'pre-populate' the vbulletin user tables (there are a few) for the forums though. It can be done, but it's a matter of how good a coder you are. You can also make a post in the Request for Paid Services if you want to pay someone to write the code for you.

Hi Lynne, thanks for your help its much appreciated. I have a developer who's doing my website but he reckons its too diffuclt to do. Perhaps some background before he's judged ;)
I have a 2007 Access dB (why is a long storey) which contains payperview records but the search credits are, which are used to PPV are handled in a MYSQL db already. So I know he's used .ASP for the site and I think its the linking between sessions (i'm a bit thick so don't quote me ) and asp/php handling. In light of the difficulties involved I've accepted that Nirvana is not where I'm going to be just yet, perhaps later when funds allow.

i need a user integration mod as well but mine is for wordpress, i was considering using a current mod on this site but i am reading people are having problems with it. i think i might have to end up hiring a coder to do this because my coding writing skills are sloppy lol
