Can I forbid visitors of specific countries to access my forum? how?

I'm sure there are better ways than mine, but to stop Russian spammers, I went into my hosting control panel and blocked "*.ru". My control panel allows bamming of both IP's and URL's. It worked better than anything else I tried.
