View Full Version : Link to user profile instead of avatar

One of my users has a link to his profile where his avatar should be. The text of the link says "Username's Avatar" where Username is his actual username.
Is this some feature of the avatar system or should I be concerned that something isn't working correctly? I haven't made any changes to the board in a few weeks and it's only this one user.

All of your users avatars should link directly to there profiles...I've made it on our board so it actually redirects to there music page...but by default (i believe) it is supposed to link to there vbulletin profile.

That's nice and all but doesn't answer the question that I asked.

Okay, I see your point now. I'm not bothered by the fact that it links to his profile. What is unusual is that it is a text link to his profile. There is text instead of an image.

Check the page source and see what it says the path to the image is supposed to be for that users avatar. Check the code in that area of his post versus that area of someone else's post.

Clear your cache and reload the page.

I've done both of those now.
Clearing the cache didn't help.
And as for what that area of the source looks like, it's the same as another user's post except that the img src is shorter. It's simply
image.php?u=30&dateline=2007
whereas other user's datelines are at least twice as long.
Oh, and I tested this on IE (I normally use Firefox here at work) and with IE, the avatar simply shows up as a broken image link complete with red X.

Have you tried just asking the user to reupload their avatar?

No. I just noticed this tonight and like I said, I use Firefox, so I didn't know it was a broken image issue until later when I tested it on IE.

The image that the user uploaded as their avatar is invalid (i.e. not a properly formed image). Ask the user to re-upload it, or upload another one.
