I've been wrestling with this issue for awhile now and thought perhaps i can get some feedback on these 2 systems. The VB Reputation system and the 'Thank-You' hack. I've been going with the reputation system as I find that it is a much better long-term tracking to recognize good members and also has more transparency.

But the 'Thank-you' hack is much more user-friendly and perhaps doesn't identify good members as well.

I always felt that one forum shldn't use both systems as it is an overkill.

So what do you guys think? Which system do you prefer and why? Can both systems be implemented concurrently?

I prefer thank you hack coz its pretty simple work is done with a click incase of reputation its bit long process.

Hi Jl.
I had the thank you hack on my forum but I found it distruptive to the flow of the posts as you know it creates an additional box below each thanked posts. Also, many skins don't come with a thank you button so you'll have to create one. I don't use either.:)
