Just been chatting with a mate of mine who has a rather large but non VB forum and was after some idea, for making his forum popular throughout the day, Now the best solution would be to have the admin on 24/7 coming up with debates, competitions, and promoting the site 24/7

But we know this won't work at all, But what would work is some way of promoting the site which changes throughout the day all day every week.

So how about this for an idea..

Timed Forums Promotions

Now the idea is simple and would require a few graphic files, I'll explain below..

1. The Idea

To promote and encourage user participation, throughout the day, and to actively promote different parts of the fourms.

2. The Answer

Imagine having graphic content for your forums that change dependant on what time the Guest View/member logs on.

The Pictures would show at an admin defined time and the changes occur also at admin defined times, With different pictures promoting the forums 24/7, this may be a great way to get members posting and perhaps signing up.

3. Example

I used my site as an example, but not everyone has a business forum so yours may need to be different dependand on your content.

6am to 9am ~ The Breakfast Club, Catch the first news of the day whilst reading the news RSS, Join in the photo caption thread from a Picture picked from this mornings news.

9am to 12.00 Noon. ~ Tournament Time in the arcade, Take part in your sites mini Games Tournament, Enter and play against other members

12.00 to 3pm ~ Lunch Time Club, General Open forums with Live chat in the Chat room or Shoutbox

3pm to 6pm ~ Forum Games and Competitions, Fun for all

6pm to 9pm ~ Weekly debate, Polls, active disscussions general open forums

9pm to Midnight ~ Business to business, General Business chat, discussions and debates, Individual mini discussions on legal, taxation and other with expert members

Midnight til 6am The Midnight hours, Open forums, fun and games in the arcade

Thats it according to the above i would need to make 7 graphic files which could be the width of the forums by 150 or 200 pixels deep, this would go below the navbar in the forum home, with links in the picture for various forum sections.

I've not seen nothing like this on VB, so i thought i'd post here to ask your opinion, Would an idea like this work?? or is it a bit long winded and more hassle than its worth??

Please take part in the poll, at least i'll know if its worth looking into ;)

Cheers :)

I like the idea. I guess it would encourage users to visit areas they may not usually :)
