That's how it's supposed to be.
Simple to navigate, easy on the eye and as few images as possible.
Indeed, for an official site, it's pretty good.
Not that there's no room for improvement, but if a new style were to emerge, it would HAVE to have the same navigability as this one.

Am I missing something? This forum is about as plain and basic as it gets. Not to say that is bad, but it doesn't rock.

The style is downright bad, plain and simple. Colouring is bad, layer usage terrible, (we don't use layers here when re-colouring). The purple doesn't do justice to sensitive eyes (designed by princeton who created the thread about white text on black background). Green is, well, jungle fever. Not to point fingers though the blue is about the only coloured style that is bearable to the eye. It's the only one I'll use without straining my eyes.
It's a bad style no justice in sugar coating it. It will be insulting intelligence.
Edit: Just so you see what I mean, here is the current purple icon unmasked where it should resulting in sloppy re-colouring. >> https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/01/1.gif
And a 30 second effort where i simply applied masking in the appropriate layers resulting in a better visually usable image which imo is easy on the eyes. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/01/4.png https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/01/5.png

I think the style itself is great. A lot of thought has been put into improving its usability, so I disagree with shelley completely in that regard. But she's so right about the buttons/icons. The default ones are horrific. I'd rather have a cat slowly scratch me to death, than willingly run a forum using the stock button set.

Shelley, as an official site, they don't value graphic work as much as functionability, easy navigation, page size for those dial-up users (there still are, weird huh?).
I wouldn't use this skin in a million years but it's just what they need.

I wasn't referring to navigation, fuctionabilty it's usability to an extent. I'm referring to the style, the design more importantly the re-colouring. I'd go as far as saying the default look but that's another thread. It's clear the vbulletin default look is here to stay (whether members like it or not) but the colouring hurts my eyes on the green, red and esp the purple. It's sloppy workmanship and I don't care what anyone says about it, it is.
For someone that cares about usability, the styles strain the eyes so that's not having consideration for members and I'm sick of being stuck with this terrible blue style. And magnumutz, the staff don't care about graphics? Where are you getting this information? you may be right but where is the source you got that from?

If other styles hurt your eye, use the default blue one... you must be used to it, as it's almost the same color scheme as vBulletin's.
I don't have a source for that, but it's the conclusion i've down to.

Then use the blue style he tells me. I should put you over my knees and give you a spanking mag. I couldn't do that to you though, I like you too much.
I'm using the blue style (look up) no not there, my response. It's the style I have remained to use, but that's not to say that we shouldn't have a variety at our disposal, easy on the eyes and something to marvel upon and set a standard, it's fustrating to keep saying but vbulletin for scripts is the best source/resource we should accommodate the visuals/graphic side to match. At the moment, the standard is low...raise the bar a little and you'll be surprised what you settled for in the first place.
You get used to something for so long you don't know any better and forget what standards should be.
I agree with the OP's first post. This is a great forum and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the styles. I use purple and it serves its function well, but then again, I'm not nitpicking for trouble's sake, am I?
And just FYI, Shelley, I'm not here for a petty debate with you. I don't care what you think, your opinion is worthless to me and pretty much everyone else here.
You're a troll, plain and simple, and there's no justice in sugar coating that either. It will be insulting everyone else's intelligence.

You just insulted your own intelligence (whoever you are). Trolling? you will find you just did that you hypocrit. Nowhere in this thread is their remnants of me trolling and as much as you think my opinion is worthless (which is your god given right) you don't speak for the masses with your loose end assumptions.
Stopr trolling and baiting when an opinion is made it doesn't become you.

Can't say i wouldn't like that...

The first time i've tried to change the style, i was shocked... that was when i signed up.
The second time, was this December, with the "small changes", i wanted to see if anything improved... FAIL!
You get used to something for so long you don't know any better and forget what standards should be.
Yeah, i really ignore anything else right now.
It sucks, cuz if you look at IPB, they've got like 2 default skins if i'm not wrong and they're both pretty appealing.

well said, I've been saying that for years (look at invisionize), Once the official ipb resource. they seem to have cracked it on the visual side. Jelsoft should adopt the same method and implementations.

well I would say yes! the design part of vbulletin should improve a lot, they look the same the day started to run this business till date when u see a vbulletin board that runs on 3.0.6 and a vbulletin board that is 3.8.1 you dont see much difference with the design part. this thing really deserves a change otherwise this default look of vbulletin is pretty much out dated.
I still love vb.org with blue lagoon but yes there can be some definite improvements.. I really think jelfsoft people should take this really seriously. It definitely needs an improvement.

I would give A++ for IPB default look they are pretty much updated when it comes to design part.
No kidding? Have you read your own post? There's a difference between stating your opinion in one single post and talking crap about vBulletin, vborg, the staff and pretty much anything and everything else in virtually every single Feedback thread you post in.
Strangely, posting once, standing up for something you believe in (vborg styles in this case) is less acceptable than posting the same insulting garbage that has been posted numerous times before, resulting in at least one locked thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=200235)?
I have yet to see Shelley_c prove that she speaks for anyone but herself, despite her claims to the contrary. It's the same old offensive, argumentative nonsense posted in countless other threads, and yeah, I'm sick of seeing such a disrespectful, lousy attitude on vborg.

You can't deny that she's a test to the vB.org staff :D
I wish I had a member like this on my forum, to test my staff.

Your baiting and trolling again and being argumentative. Let's stick to the facts. nowhere in this thread have I trolled and/or become argumentative, you'll find that you are the one trolling, become argumentative and volatile towards me for some reason. I have no agenda here but to point the facts and not reminisce about old threads.
Your entitled to your opinions but make loose end assumptions and accusations towards someone that aren't the facts is (well I don't need to explain that one to you).

Well I just looked over all your posts in this thread and I see absolutely no "facts", all I see is opinions and pretty narrow minded ones at that. You may choose to ignore everyone who disagrees with you, or even partly disagrees with you, but that doesn't mean your opinion is fact.
I'm still trying to figure out how making a post saying exactly the same thing you've posted before isn't reminiscing. I guess you'd call it deja vu or a stuck record. Either way, it gets old fast.

I agree, your getting old very fast. Look again, and read (i even provided imagary)
Look at the re-colouring in the styles (more importantly the icons throughout the board in all styles. (are you choosing to ignore that) like i said, your a hypocrit. If there was a bug in the code people would be the first to complain about it. Because's I focus and point out the visuals it's trolling. No, it's a matter of taking pride in your work. Now, unless you know what your talking about with your useless assumptions (and they are useless) and pointless and your debating with me you obviously know nothing about which clearly shows in this thread.
So, in essence, your opinions to me are worthless for the fact they are a little redundant.
