Customize Quick Editor and Quick Reply [Support Attachment]

With this hack you may improve the buttons on quick editors include Quick Reply, Quick Edit Post, Visitor Message Editor, Private Message Quick Reply, Social Group Discussion Quick Edit, vB Blog Quick Comments, vB Project Tools Issue Quick Reply and etc...

Now you may easily and fast quick attachment without need to refresh the page even for post quick edit!

Hereinafter you may easily turn on or off buttons on quick editors only via vBulletin Options. For example you may add a smiley box to Quick Reply or Visitor Message Editor and so on.

I replaced original quick editor templates with new templates. No query added to the page and for custom BBCodes I used the cache.

You may check the Visible Custom for Quick Edit , please attention if you want to show only particular custom BBCodes you must enter tag of each BBCode in input box opposite of Visible Custom checkbox and if custom BBCodes are more than one you may split each BBCode with a comma.

Though at Social Group this hack apply changes only on Quick Edit and not apply any changes on Full Editor.

This hack include a small function with name button_visibility that take a place on construct_edit_toolbar function in file includes/functions_editor.php and only one time defined, I think you are on a page that have 2 Quick Editor, so this problem may a bug for current version and I must fix this problem certainly in next version.

I say thank you to report this problem, but for this time you may make this change on Improve Editor plug-in that took in editor_toolbar_start hook via Plug-Ins Manager which that change is follow:

Find function button_visibility($button) then before this line add if (function_exists('button_visibility')) then save the changes.

I noticed right now that you have some options which have not been finished inside your Code and should temporarily Disabled for the time being. So it may not cause any problems but may confuse some members while seeing a gap inside the vB Settings without any contents in it. Just as a side note ;)

To fix this problem you may change the width of Form - [Form Width (pixels) in Style Manager] to 640px or greater.

Or you may wait for new version that have a option to quick change the form width via vBulletin Options

It's always difficult to say how Serverloads/Bandwiths are used in any Forums. Most Hoster providing special tools so the customers can see what is most frequently used :)

No other reply hack used, the smilie only appeared after installing your hack, now that you are a member of my site you can look for yourself, make a post then click the edit button and you will see the smilie but it shouldn't be there, and even when it should it is empty.

I registered on your site and I check the private message and visitor messages for smiles box and I saw true smiles box, but when I tried to test for thread I didn't see Quick Reply! but I posted a test message and tried to QuickEdit it but when clicked the smile button to put a smile, the box was empty and it's strange for me but I will more check for this unfamiliarity problem and I will inform you, it's strange for me because of I never see likewise problem after I fixed this problem because in first times of development this hack, there was such problem but I fixed up it, anyhow I will try to discover problem cause.

Quick reply is turned off, as i dont want to use that at the moment, but this issue is that if you try to edit your post (or admin or a moderator) you see the quick edit window which has the smilie icon.

I don't spot it, therefore I think the Quick Editor will be messy and it's not so good, but if you want so I can add this option as a new feature to version 2.5.0 that will be release today.

Please temporary disable those hack (PM Attachments) and test again, if the problem still persist, uninstall Quick Editor Improver then reinstall, and after that inform me for result.

2.5.0 seems to be working fine for me. It doesn't add that UserCp menu when I use this mod (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=202000), but it's no big deal. I don't really need that feature on my board. ;)

On first released I was used XML file for bitfield but I think this may less slow down the process and need to external files of course, while I ever try to develop plug-ins without need to caused travail of the user (webmaster) so I think when we obtain easy qualification to tap resources, it's can boost to them.
Beside, the products should at least without palpable problems and bugs, hence we must try to produce products without these clear problems.

When I disregard the details, I would from you to post that just error message to this thread, than I scrutiny that and symptom of it so I will may figure out that problem.

Finally, note that I never see any "collision error message" about bitfields, thus I can't induct this issue, so exhibit exact error message, may aid me to well untie that error.

Meanwhile are you sure you have deleted /includes/xml/bitfield_quickeditor_improver.xml? It's maybe that problem depend on!

This means that your permission Buttons are kinda displaced to the left side than others. It's just a small bug but I'm sure that has something to do with your Plugin "Quick Editor Usergroup Settings" in using the Hook "admin_usergroup_edit"! After installing the newest 2.51 version I noticed that some Setting Options are totally moved to the left side. The descriptions for the "Visible Buttons" on the right side does not fit anymore which results a Linefeed in some options which have not been before by using the same Phrases in German. After I deinstalled this version by installing the previous 2.01 and it works perfect :)

Working on new version that contains attachmenet possibility is done and I now testing it for release and as soon as possible I will release it.

For you have asked, I can say when Visible Font, Visible Size, Visible Alignment and Visible Visible List are checked in vBulletin Options, as automatically the editor buttons will show on 2 rows, but I don't think it's whom you would, but if you give me snapshot from your screen that discussion around it, may help me to more appreciate your purpose.

Maybe the totally of codes seems to massive but each of those only affective on shred of files, and for JS plugins whom you mention, I just say they are contain application/x-javascript header so they will only once load and cached by browser thus maybe this may not an overload for modification.

Same that I said before, I ever try to develop modification with minimum need of handy changes on files, templates or etc, yet with tiptop of appreance :up:

On a side note: For a better overview in downloading the latest versions you should keep your last AddOn's!!! On every time you have updated your last version you replaced the old one through the newest one. In order to prevent in missing previous AddOn's I think you should keep all AddOns so that every User can download the version he needs. Just a side note ;)

You can do that in the ACP, in "Attachments" settings.

Just one problem that's come up - I can add one custom BB code tag and it works great - but every time I try to add two codes, separated by a comma as instructed, it tells me

Are you sure that another custom BBCodes are have image button?

Are you using default style without any changes on thread_quickreply template? It may for this, because of I used Automatic Template Change method for this.

Yeah, that's it. If you separate each custom BBCode without spaces, your problem will be solved as say as our friend.

Please check for vBulletin Options -> Quick Editor Improver, and please sure for exists of templates that start with imp_ prefix.

However I checked your board and I saw that Quick Editor Improver for Quick Reply works perfect.

For current version you may limit it based on usergroup and style, but for specified forums this is not possible, sorry.

However this is not meant you may not have that, because of if you know about vBulletin and plug-ins system, you may add new option to Quick Editor Improver as you will need to create a new plug-in for this capability.

Another way for this issue that I think it's better and easy follow:

I think this is the best method for this issue, because of if the condition check on the top level it's very better to decision about processing of that, so extra queries will not affect. I will post a new attachment that applied this for easy of you.

One problem - I've noticed that when enabling both Visible Font and Visible List, the toolbar goes onto two lines like so:
