About vBLoadAverages
This is my first public vBulletin mod. I got the idea for this mod from a phpbb forum that uses something similar. :)
This mod checks your server's load averages and displays a warning message in case the load is too high.
Features:
- Displays warning message if load average is greater than X.
- Customizable warning message.
- Option to enable/disable public display of warning message.
- Option to enable/disable the display of the load averages along with the warning message.
- Option to enable/disable sending of 503 HTTP status in case load average is greater than X.
Compatibility
This mod is compatible with linux/unix servers only. It has been tested with vBulletin 3.7 and 3.8 with PHP 5.2.8.
Installation:
Installation is very simple. Just log in to your vBulletin Admin CP, then go to Plugins and Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product and then browse to the product-vloadavgs.xml file and click the Import button. After installation you will see a new setting group in "vBulletin Options" where you can configure the mod.
Support:
I will provide support for this mod right here. Feel free to post any questions, suggestions or comments about this mod. :)
Changelog:
August 17, 2009 - 1.0.1
- Added feature to send warning email when load is greater than X.

will try, thanks!
Very similar mod, works on all versions:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=82900
Also "if load greater than x turn off the board" is a similar default vB feature.
Thanks anyway... :)

I didn't understand the " 2 " number .. I know it resembles the load average but how it represents it ?

The "2" is for the one minute load average. For example, if the load averages are 0.17, 0.18 and 0.11, then 0.17 is the one minute load average. If its greater than "2" then the warning message will be displayed. I hope you understand what I mean. :D

Yes, thats right. But that feature can be disabled if you don't want it. :)
Oh, sorry. No, it doesn't override anything. If the 503 load is set to 10 and if you have the vBulletin "*NIX Server Load Limit" set to 5, it wont override it.
The vBulletin "*NIX Server Load Limit" still shows the template and all, whereas this 503 setting can send an Apache style error message (as shown in screen shot) or a simple plain text error message. :D

No, this doesn't work on Windows servers. Only works on linux/unix servers.

can you get it to show the status of the server load if its under the server load, like a way to know if its going to get close.

Would be nice to send out an email to the host and tech guy if load is over X.
Please add this function.

Going to get close? You can set the "Load Average" to whatever you want. For example, in my case, server load usually doesn't go above 2. Which is why I have set the "Load Average" setting to 2, so that I see the warning message in case load ever goes above 2. If I wanted to see the warning message before load reaches or goes above 2, I can set the "Load Average" setting to 1 or 1.5. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. :)

I didn't think of adding that feature cause I am using a cPanel (http://www.cpanel.net) powered server with CSF (http://www.configserver.com/cp/csf.html) which already has a feature of sending out email when server load is too high.
But since you guys are asking, I will add that feature too. :)
Edit: I have added the above mentioned feature. :D
