UKBL ~ Virtual Admin for your Forums

What a suprise i have for you guys, A completely free Virtual Admin for your Forums :D

Normally website owners have a to a tidy fortune to have one of these guys on their site, but now, all vbulletin owners can have one FREE :D

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/01/44.png

You can telephone your account and speak what you you want your Virtual Admin to say, Now you'll be able to "Tell" your guests to sign up!! How cool is that.

To get your free account for a free Site pal with nothing at all to pay, you need to sign up to http://www.bravenet.com/ The Webmasters Content site.

Once you've joined go to Web tools, and in the bottom right hand corner you will see a link like this

* Speaking Characters
Create animated characters for your site.

Click here and your in to your SitePal Speaking Character mode ;)

Here you can get...

Enhance the User Experience ~ Greet your visitors, provide them with information and direct them to the right place on your site.

Increase Sales ~ Nothing beats a spoken call to action!

Fully Customizable ~ SitePal's editor makes it easy and fun to design your own character.

Dynamic Audio Recording ~ SitePal's Record-by-Phone feature makes creating your character's audio as easy as leaving a voicemail. Premium packages allow you to type what the character speaks.

Easy to Publish
As simple as "copy and paste"!

Click here to see the tutorial http://www.sitepal.com/TutorialMovie/

Full Instructions to how to get started with Site pal is in the Zip File

When you've made your Virtual Admin, You can load the file (Javascript is the cleanest) directly to the bottom of your header template, You can set the viewing to just once when you sit up your admin, This means that registered users will noy have to keep seeing this everytime they login or perhaps a simple conditional (Below) will keep it for un-registered members only.

<if condition="$bbuserinfo['usergroupid'] == 1">

Don't forget to ad the </if> to the end ;)

Basically the finished script with the conditional would look something like this

<DIV ALIGN=CENTER>
<if condition="$bbuserinfo['usergroupid'] == 1">
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://vhss-d.oddcast.com/vhost_embed_functions_v2.php?acc=788182&js=1"></script><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">AC_VHost_Embed(788182,300, 400, '', 1, 1, 1719578, 0, 1, 0, '8d69700ca873cad45222de0f4674a812', 8);</script>
</if>
</DIV>

That way it will only show to unregistered members or whatever usergroup you place in the above condition.

Don't forget to click installed ;)

Hey, Just though, Why don't we post a picture of our Virtual Admins :D

I am amazed they have it for free. Are there any Bravenet advertising banners within the code, on a rotation?

It takes up some ACREAGE tho on your page. Perhaps offer 2 other versions , one as a block in vbcpms

Other as a popup similar to tv and radio player.

Could program it with your FAQS and registration process.

Theres so much you could do with this, The great thing being the basic version (the free one) lets you chose between male and female, the type of gear they wear, etc.. Plus its great to show unregistered members and actually tell them to register and what they are missing if they don't ;)

If anyone can code a block on vbcpms then i'd add it on ;)

Love your ideas Steve, if you wasn't down under i'd buy you a pint Friday :D

It was pure luck i came accross it, being totally free i just had to share :D

using conditions you could make it viewable to a certain member, and the great thing about it is that you get the chance to make two admins, one can be on the forumhome welcoming new members and telling them to join, the second could be used to give personal messages to members, be it an announcement or even a warning ;)

We started using ALICE about a year ago.

Was ok, but got rather tedious. Good idea tho.

What is available in the free version, how many phrases etc can you program?

The free Version is a cut down version of the paid version. You get 2 people, a limited amount of kit, (Styles, hair, clothes,background) Plus with the free version you nee to phone up and record your message.

You can still make a resonable effort, mind took the best part of 5 minutes ;)

if it is yes then it is joke to have it on site.

This is the Free version we're talking about, I think you must be after the Paid Premium Version which you'll have to apply directly on the Sitepal Site.

What the idea was with the free version was to use it as a virtual admin, so you could tempt people to join your site if they will will depend on how good your sales pitch is, either way you'll have 150 opportunities to gain a new member every month, To me thats a start.

Secondly you could use it for embarrassing moments like you need to do a tempory ban, and need to explain to the member what their options are, Just set the conditional to make it seeable to banned members.

The idea on how best to use this depends on your own creativity, Its free and perhaps you may only get a small amount of showings, but you can set it to show only once per user, and only to the usergroup you want.

To me getting a better than average sign up due to this idea, even though its only a free version, and a small version of the full package, it could work wonders for your site if managed in the correct format.

So out of the 150 leads, if you get 50 new members as a result each and every month, then the idea has worked..

Its up to you guys, be creative and use its full potential, or wonder what could of been.

theres always the full version if you want 10,000 showings to each member everytime they log on :rolleyes:

Can anyone share with me how to set the sitepal code up so that it will only display in one specific forum?

I need to know how the code is setup as well as what template it should be put into.

Thanks.
