Weird .. can you explain?

Our site normally has 120 online, 24/7

Made up of 20-60 members all day, + guests + spiders.

Yesterday, I bought a very very good domain for us. In fact was last night, it is based on our 2 PRIME keywords.

I because it was late, set up a redirect from the new domain to our main forum. Until such time as we design a site for the new domain.

Today we had 350 online, and still have 280+ guests online.

These are "guests" not spiders, and IP addresses suggest they are from our target demographic.

So have we hit on an accidental resource?
Is it just bull ?

Any suggestions gratefully received for our accidental notoriety please.

No we have awstats and the like switched off, due to the extra server load it caused.

Its deffo very very weird. And also willing to hear from any seo guys as to possible penalisation from adsense and the like. Not sure it would tho, as adsense is within our normal target domain and the redirected domain is sitting there all angelic like :)

But essentially, our master keywords, we invested in a domain, and then pointed that domain to our master site.

So kinda wondering how this can happen.

Generally we have 30-50 guests throughout the day at any one time, rising to 75+ at peak times.

But rising to over 300+ is simply astonishing, and albeit I am pretty offay with SEO and SEM , I cannot explain it.

Could just be a coincidence.
Most search engines probably haven't even indexed most of your new site yet (or know it exists).

Give it a few days and see what happens. It could be some rogue bots that don't properly acknowledge themselves as such.

Is there a methof, of listing every viewer on the site on one page. ?

Like:

member dave765 ip 34.54.67.121
member eric456 ip 46.765.12.12
guest XXXXX ip 192.1.1.0
spider adsense 1.1.1.1

etc etc?

apart from following them all round the forum ?
