How to ban IP?s ? [Archive]

Anyone can tell me how to ban IP?s in vB ? I only saw the user ban function but nothing about an IP or I am blind. ;)

Ok stupid me, found it. But is it possible to ban precise IP ranges ? The wildcards are not so precise.

To ban the 172 network, enter 172.*.*.*

Banning ips is just a short term fix. Spammers change IPs faster then they change underwear. You can ban the entire network range and they will start using proxies.

You can just actually enter "172.". However, I would suggest against banning such a wide range of IPs. Maybe ban down to the last octet.
