I get a generic icon for im_skype.gif:

The icon is in the proper directory with the other IM GIFs.
When I right mouse click on it, and do a "save image as", it gives me my Skype name with a .png extension (thebeatles58.png).

Clicking on it does work, with generic icon.

OK, it is set to Yes.

I guess there is 2 issues:
1. I'm logged into to Skype, and yet vBulletin is showing me Offline.
2. The offline gif (skype_offline.gif) is not appearing. I placed it in /images/misc

Check the path to the image in the page source. If you have that path set to Yes, then it should not be looking for an image on your site:

Use SkypeWeb Graphics
This is a three-way setting. Setting No will cause the Skype™ icon (used in the im_skype template) to be loaded from the local webserver. This can be useful as the SkypeWeb server has proven to be a little flakey at present.

If set to Yes, the icon will be loaded from the SkypeWeb server and will show the Skype™ online-status of the user in question.

So it is pulling the image off of SkypeWeb server!?
Even so, it is still showing me as not logged into Skype when I am.

So, if the SkypeWeb server is not functioning?

Since the server is not correctly sensing if a user is online or off, I should just change it to No and use local (static) graphic.

I guess my question is, if the SkypeWeb server was functioning correctly, could I use my own online and offline skype gifs and have them appear accordingly?

I would guess the SkypeWeb server isn't functioning correctly. I tested it on my site also and it wouldn't show me online.

If you use the SkypeWeb server, then you can't use your own online/offline images.
