Bug found. When stating more userid's, the birthday messages gets posted by "Not Registered".

This is what I'm talking about:
Greeter(s) (comma separated UserID list) -> 1,5,6,7,9,11

As long as I only put 1 in there. The thread will be started by Admin.
If I put a list in there like in the example here, the thread will be started by "Not Registered".

Which brings me the same time to the question... What is this Greeter(s) line supposed to do? You can't start a thread by multiple users anyway, correct?:)

Our user group categories already take care of the activity and post count. I would really need it to do, is also omit specific user groups, like Banned and some other trouble maker groups that we have. Maybe in the next version?

Is there a way to do a weekly or Monthly message?

i.e. instead of a new post each day, it does a weekly summary... The following members celebrate their birthday this week.

Hi, Cyb

It is impossible to publish some threads with congratulations at once in 3.8.2
In this version the parametre skip_floodcheck is not used any more.
Instead of it other parametre is used: is_automated

Fix please in new version.

One issue we are having on one of my sites is if the user is 18, 28, 38 etc...

it says something like Age 18) and the 8) gets transformed to :cool: type smiley.

I couldn't figure out how to get around this, so I set up a new account to post the b-day messages and put them into a new usergroup that is not allowed to use smilies.... hoping that will fix it.. but no one has a 8 year b-day this month now =P

Well, anyone have any better ideas or have run into this issue before?

I ran the instructions as provided, but no messages automatically parse for birthdays in the forum I indicated (or anywhere). They do show up on my vba CMPS index page (under Today's b-days), but no new thread is started for them by this mod.

Is it compatible with the vba CMPS mod? I mean - is that something that would cause it to not work?

This product will not send any emails, it just create threads.

So your problem can not be produced by this mod in any way.

approx 20-30 minimum per birthday!

No answer for this?

Finally today (which is what brings me back to this mod) ONE out of the 2 birthdays posted. I'm on 3.8.2 and usually no birthday messages post since I installed this a while ago.

Is this mod fully compatible with 3.8.2? How about 3.8.3?

It's just weird that, out of the blue, one birthday message finally showed up - but not to both users who had a birthday today!

CYB - is there anything that should be updated in your mod for this to work with 3.8.2?

Valter
06-22-2009, 07:43 PM
It works with 3.8.2/3.8.3 but ensure that you have set product options properly. There are exclusion options based on post count, activity, join date,... Also it will not post messages for users who has selected to hide birthday info.

How to configure it so that the Bday posts are always posted by the same user ?
Now it is doing it random and people are complaining that their account is hacked because they didnt made the post themself :)

Hi Cyb,

I'm still awaiting a response for this post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=1769356#post1769356).

My forum is +17 hours ahead of my server time, yet your hack only supports up to 12. Is there a way to manually change this to support my forum?

I saw the coding in the plugin manager for "Cyb - Auto Birthday Greeter - MN" this code:

if ($vbulletin->options['cybabgreeter_enable_product'] AND $birthdays AND ($vbulletin->options['cybabgreeter_birthday_forum']!='') AND ($vbulletin->options['cybabgreeter_posters']!=''))
{
if ($vbulletin->options['cybabgreeter_time_offset']>0)
{
$cybabgreeter_propertime = TIMENOW + ($vbulletin->options['cybabgreeter_time_offset']*3600) + 10;
}
else if ($vbulletin->options['cybabgreeter_time_offset']<0)
{
$cybabgreeter_propertime = TIMENOW - (str_replace('-','',$vbulletin->options['cybabgreeter_time_offset'])*3600) + 10;
}
else
{
$cybabgreeter_propertime = TIMENOW;
}
$cybabgreeter_execdate = date('m-d', $cybabgreeter_propertime);

But I don't know how to edit it. One thing I tried gave me errors on FORUMHOME. So I reverted it.

Any help would be appreciated!

Is it possible to use only one thread for Birthday greetings instead of creating every time a different thread ? For example instead of threads like:

-Happy Birthday User X
-Happy Birthday User Y
-Happy Birthday User Z
-Happy Birthday User A
-Happy Birthday User B
-Happy Birthday User C

just a thread like:

-Happy Birthday !
and inside posts for each user: X, Y, Z, A, B, C

Thx :)

I like that Happy Birthday Playing - Is there anyway that I could have it to play just the once, instead of on a loop? And if the user wanted to here it again - then he/she could just press the play button.

Thanks.

Installed this, and have been trying to test it, but so far not succesfully.

I created a user in a custom usergroup, and have been resetting their birthday to a new day every day, ti try and force the mod to post.

Some troubleshooting initially showed I forgot to make birthdays for that usergroup public, but even fixing that did not do the trick. The user shows up on the birthday calendar now, but did not receive a birthday mail, nor a thread.

Could someone please help me figure out what on earth I'm doing wrong?

The fact it now shows on the calendar and the forum-birthday list should do the trick, right?

Thanks.

Peter

In the last days I have tried to put a specific thread prefix in front of the subject. So in stead of:

Works great for me except the BBCode color shows instead of the actual color.

ie: shows xxxx

instead of xxxx in the color black.

======================================
1 member is celebrating their birthday on 10-16-2009:

- xxxx[/url] (Age: hidden or unknown)

Happy Birthday!
======================================

It's because the statement color= black has a blank space between the equals sign and the word black. If I manually remove that, it's fine.

I've disabled the mod for now, but does anyone have a fix I could use to address this problem, as it's a great mod (all Cyb's are) and we'd like to implement it.

Thanks ... :)

While I haven't done a real test, I had this running great up to 3.8.4 PL1 and then I did an upgrade to 4.0.0 GOLD and it worked great... so not sure if it really is compatible with 4.x or not, but was nice to see it work today =)

I have the same problem that many people ask for...

When the system write a post for a birthday the date is in wrong format.

The post look like this:

Today %25-%b-%2009 is celebrating one of our friends.

All this happend when i have to change in cyb-chatbox the date format, etc because the correct hour and date was not showed in that chat, When i change that, i get this error here.
You can help me?

Thanks in advance!

PD: I have vbulletin 3.8.x

I've noticed a BIG problem with this addon. For example today, the automatically created thread is greeting 3 users, while in the calendary there are 17 users celebrating their birthdays. I've checked, and all of them have chosen to show their age/date of birthday.

So, i am really wondering if this product actually works as it's supposed to... I felt so ashamed when some of my members asked me why i chosed to ignore them in the thread...

This looks awesome. Does this exclude usergroups?

Hi,
I've installed this mod and got everything setup, but have not seen any new threads started for members birthday. Running 3.8.5, anyone else having problems with this or can point me in a correct direction?

Hi,

How can this be modified so the post comes from only one user (me) rather than a group of people?

This is very important for how i want to use it.

Thanks,

D.

Just put your userID in "greeter" setting.

Hi Valter,

I did as you suggested but the post shows up as being from "Unregistered"

See the screen shots.

UserID should be there, NOT UserName.

I made the change to my UserID, waited a day, and now nothing is posting.

I agree, this is happening to me, too, and the latest version still doesn't correct the issue, so would appreciate your kind assistance, Valter! :)

Valter I just noticed that I have this installed on many if not all the sites I work on vb4.2.0 pl2
and it works with out a single issue..

weird..
should this be updated for any reason if it's working
work with multiple b-days
creates threads
sends emails after midnight like stated in your description ..
But I know the code / mod is 4 years old..

all in all thanks for the great mods

On vB 3.8.4...Mine posts the following in a new thread...

1 member is celebrating their birthday on 09-01-2013:

-TNKen (http://#) (born in 1956, Age: 57)

Happy Birthday!

How do I fix that? Editing the spaces out in the Usergroup HTML Markup does not work either.
