Cyb - Sub-Forum Manager

Info:
This plugin is useful when you have big number of sub-forums. It arranges them into columns. You can easily choose number of columns (1 to 7) to arange sub-forums into. There are options to enable/disable hack, exclude forums, enlarge font for sub-forums titles, hide commas, hide "Sub-Forums" phrase, show thread/reply counts, and more...


Installation:
-Import XML file (as product): AdminCP > Plugin System > Manage Products > [Add/Import Product]

-To get this hack working you must set "Depth of Sub-Forums" to "1" in vBulletin Options > Forum Listings Display Options
-To set hack options go to: AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Cyb - Sub-Forum Manager

This works on one of my styles fine. However, on another style it doesn't work. I believe this style is already configured/built to show sub forums in rows. Can I disable this mod for a specific forum?

Thought I would point out, when you click the link in the installed products page, it takes you to the 3.7 version and not the 3.8

thanks alot bro nice modification but there are problem in font

when I set font family for
<td>, <th>, <p>, <li> (Customized in this Style)
from style manager (to change my default font for my posts)
its also change the sub forum font too (been too small and unreadable)

when I disable that hack, the font for sub forum return the the default Category font

For those who are having problems with the "last posts, threads, post count columns not showing up. I finally figured out what the problem was....You need to make sure your category settings are correct for the forums (top level forum area). Go to the forum manager and open each of your top level forums and make sure these settings are as follows:

Act as Forum
(Will act as category if no) YES

Forum is Active
(Will not appear if set to no, but remains accessible if the forum's URL is known) YES

Forum is Open
(Set this to 'No' to prevent any new posts being made in this forum) NO

Index New Posts in Search Engine
(Setting this to 'No' will prevent anyone from being able to search in this forum) YES

Just like that those marked invisible are present i you know the link
but are not clickable. ofcourse and nodoubt it has something to do

It's a wonderful hack and I like it.

Unfortunately I face some "error".

Everything works perfect at forumhome. No matter which screen resolution or browser I use. But when I'm going into forumdisplay, having only one category with forums and subforums shown, there's some mistake in the display, no matter which Browser I use.

Example:
fine at a resolution at 1024x768
93978

but not fine at a higher resolution e.g. 1600x1200

The columns are not shown under each other.

Any ideas?

I installed this mod although I may have to uninstall it. All it does for me is make a series of headers with no bulleted lists. I checked and rechecked but nothing. Any ideas.

is it possible to get this column effect to display on the forums rather than the subforums. I would like to retain the parent to act as a category due to the stylized heading effect and then have all forums beneath it displayed in the subforum column effect. But if the parent is set as 'act as forum' = no, this doesn't work....

On your forum (see attached) you have 2 columns of subforums but also show the last 5 posts from the subforums. I can get the columns but it only ever shows 1 last post.

P.S. Update: This is another mod 203353. But in any way...

It is not hard to do if you know HTML.
Open XML file.
Make changes to proper table.
Upload the product with overwrite,

Excuse me for the noob question but how do you control the number of sub forums per column? I have 2 columns selected but all 5 sub forums are on column 1 and nothing on 2?

No, when you are in Control Panel..top left you'll see vBulletin Options. Click on that and it will bring a list on the right. Towards the bottom of that list you'll see Cyb - Sub Forum Manager. Double click on it and it'll bring up the options for customisation.

Well, great news! Found out a mod I was using interfered with this, and then when I fixed that with an updated version, it fixed this as well, so WOOT WOOT for me! It works!

Just a heads up to whoever it applies to: This add-on won't work if you're also using bobster65's Tabbed Forum Home 1.5.0 beta (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=175687). There's nothing wrong with either mod, but they're simply not compatible with each other. Unfortunately I have to choose which mod is more important to me for my forums. :(

Would just like to note that there is a bug in this when having several sub-forums and trying to access the forum via Safari or Google Chrome, this plug-in is apparently not optimized for webkit and will widen the table instead of doing it's original purpose for those two browsers...This is what happened on my forum at least.

I love this mod, but it doesn't go far enough. Why do we only organize subforums on the forumhome? Below I've posted images of how subforums are presented (on my site w/ this hack) on a parent forums page, and then a mock up of what it should look like (in the spirit of this mod). Why can't we do this?

Hi there,

Thanks for this mod. I did have to change quite a bit.

In order for it work in 3.8.4 (patch 1) and match my forums I had to:

- Change all of my category forums to "act as forum."
- I also had to change "Depth of Forums - Forum Home" to "1",
and the "Depth of Sub-Forums" to "1".
- I Also had to uninstall the forums separator mod since my categories are gone from changing them to an active forum.

Is there a way to separate them again?

I have a question, how do I put an extra forum bar under the forum bar for each main forum?

Well i have created many subforums to one main forum and now i have some display setings i want to tell me how can i change this. Well here are some photos of my problem and how i want the subforums to be shown:

I've installed this mode on my localhost, I've choosed 2 columns and it looks really nice, but only in index page. But when it is on a forumdisplay page, it is not the same thing..
How can I fix this?

Hi there,

Just installed the plugin and loving the results so far. Running into one snag though. I can't seem to figure out how to add sections with categories and subcategories underneath.

The website I'm working on is http://www.educationhq.net/forum

An example hierarchy would be

Course-Notes.Org Lounge
->Off-Topic
-->Announcements
-->Everyday Life
-->Debate Board
-->Introduce Yourself
-->School Advice
-->Site Issues

Right now I've got it looking the way I want it to, but the 'Course-Notes.Org Lounge' doesn't have any child categories. It's just a top level forum. Here is the setting I have for that forum

Act as Forums: No
Forum is Active: Yes
Forum is Open: No
Index New Posts in Search Engine: No

Here are the settings I have for the Off-Topic level forum:

Act as Forums: Yes
Forum is Active: Yes
Forum is Open: No

Ok is their any conficting mods? because some of the features aren't working on my board. "Hide subforums" and "Put blank lines after these sub-forums (comma separated ID list)" aren't working. I reinstalled and been trying to debug it but have gotten nowhere.

its a javascript void error and you go nowhere. This does not appear to work properly there on on my site so I cannot mark installed.

Thanks. Great looking site! Yeah you could use one under your "General Firearms Discussion" category just like my "Public Hunting Land Profiles" category. Please let me know if any of ya'll find a solution to this. It would seem to be an easy feature to add and is surely a common issue.

That does not work. If you set 7 it does show seven columns but it extends the forum way right over the borders and still posts the Last post section. I want to remove that section of the site.

Is there a way to remove the subforum_old.gif and subforum_new.gif and not use them at all? The easiest thing to do is replace them with blank .gifs or with .gifs the same color as their background and name them the same. They'd still be there but nobody would see them.

I have an issue where this mod works fine on the main forum page but when I select a forfum category, the formatting screws up.

A screenshot is attached. The issue is with 2nd level subforums. 3rd level subforums (see the bottom of the attachment) work as expected.

Any ideas on how I can fix this ?

In the example below it shows the thread/posts count next to the sub-forum

Forum Title
-- Sub-Forum 1 (10/12000)

however

Forum Title 2

-- -- Sub Sub- Forum 3

It does not show the threads/posts next to Sub-Forum 2 like it would in the first example. I imagine that's the case because there's another subforum below that. How can I make it still show the thread/posts in this situation?

I don't mind if it adds the thread/post count from both subforums.

Looks like you have that particular forum and its subs as categories.
Go into your acp/ Forum manager, Click test 1, scroll to the Posting Options section and change the first option to yes.
Repeat that option for test 2.
