Cyb - Advanced Permissions Based on Post Count

Info:
This product allows you to set permissions based on user?s post count for:
-viewing forum (threads listing),
-viewing threads content,
-creating new threads,
-replying to threads,
-viewing attachments,
-Viewing/Posting links/images and e-mail addresses,
-sending private messages,
-sending e-mails,
-posting Visitor messages
-viewing Albums
-creating new Albums
-posting Picture comments
-viewing Social Groups
-creating new Social Groups
-posting Group messages

This will disallow members with no permissions to view forums/threads/posts/links through normal view, printthread, search, archive*, thread preview. Note that you can set Forum/Thread Permissions for each forum/sub-forum separately. Screenshot shows additional options in Forum Manager and error messages shown to user when trying to view restricted area.

*-When you set in some forum "Minimum Post Count To View Thread Listing In This Forum" option to different value than "0" guests will not be able to see thread listing in that forum through Archive. For logged-in users this function works normally regarding user's post count.

How it works and why it's better than vB Promotions system...
First of all it's very easy to use.

Forum is shown on forumhome but if you have no needed post count you'll see lock icon and predefined error message when try to access. When you set this via vB Promotions system forum is hidden on forumhome and you must create additional usergroup to make all this working.

When user collect needed amount of posts he will be able to access protected forum immediately. When you set this via vB Promotions system then user must wait until Promotions task is executed ... then he will be able to access protected forum. How much time user must wait it depends on settings in AdminCP/Scheduled Tasks... and if you set this to run every minute it pushes your server. If you set it to 2 or more minutes then user must wait more and more... and nobody like it.

All I really want to do is put new users posts into a moderation queue, except in a certain forum (For example, the new users forum).

When this plugin is enabled, non-admins cannot do a mouse-over thread preview in search results. It works fine in forumdisplay. This does not happen to admins/moderators. Any ideas? vb 3.8.0. Al forums are set to 0 posts so far so its not a permission setting.

I'm having a problem with spambots who join the post and post a bunch of crap (which isn't new of course) but they are also rating threads so people will view their posts. So, I can remove all their posts quickly but the threads remain rated 5 stars which is not great for the site.

Is there anyway we can add an additional option to prevent people from rating threads before X amount of posts?

I'm using another hack in conjuction with this one. The other mod (now in mod graveyard) is called Check4Spam. The reason I use that one still is because it allows custom rules.

My custom rules are:

That's my problem too, i noticed new signups with 0 posts using signature for spamming (redirecting traffic to their signs in order to redirect once again to the final spamming links). This could be a great feature for sure (in the meantime great mod dude, congratz for your hard work ;) )

1st When I click on the link into Addons I will be directed to the 3.7 Page not to the 3.8 page here
2nd When I say that Links are only possible by postcount of 1 and the user have 0 I also see the links and can use them.

Will this mod work to not allow members to send/receive private messages EXCEPT to/from mods/admins until x number of posts are made? I don't want to disable the pm feature for members because I want them to be able to communicate with mods/admins and vice versa but new members will pm other members to sell products or to coax them to other boards.

This was the very first mod I have ever personally installed. so please excuse me if this is incredibly stupid.

I did install the mod, and went into Vbulletin options to set the preferences.
At each section, there are two options: Individual Forums or All Existing Forums.
so far so good.

When I choose "All Existing Forums", the link takes me to a page that shows all the smilies that are installed for the forums. That's it.

How/where do I merely set new users unable to post links or email addresses until they've posted x # of messages?

Weird, I have had this installed for a while now, I have recently reset all permissions so members cannot post anywhere until they have 1 post count other than an intro forum. The minimum post count of 1 is being ignored, new members are making their first posts in areas other than the intro forum. I know you're bust Cybernetec but would you have any idea what I might have got wrong to cause the post count requirement to be ignored.

i installed this, set it up that members with less than 10 posts can NOT post links -mainly to prevent them putting links in the signature, logged in as test user, 0 posts.. post a message with a link in the sig, and it still shows.. not clickable but still shown :(

Then that's why you don't install the modification LOL or rather - don't use the images and links restrictions.

Different strokes for different folks. But I must say I agree in a sense anyway - I only use the modification for the PM restriction based on post count feature. It's nice to have the additional options if needed though :)

This plugin is great, but it invites floods. It'd be really good to have a feature, or maybe a new plugin to let users only post so many times in x seconds/ minutes.

An alternative would be an Advanced Permissions Based on Time. But I think the former would be easier.

We have temporarily disabled private messages and have set the number of posts needed to send pm's to "0". But it still shows up to members as needing posts to send pm's.

Any chance of getting an option to block users from posting links in their sig until they have a minimum post count? Seems like a new type of spammer makes two or three posts then changes their sig to link to their web page... their posts are somewhat on topic so hard to weed them out before they make the sig change.

i installed this, set it up that members with less than 10 posts can NOT post links -mainly to prevent them putting links in the signature, logged in as test user, 0 posts.. post a message with a link in the sig, and it still shows.. not clickable but still shown :(

Found a typo and a problem.
Typo: when clicking on the product in the Admincp, it's linked to the 3.7 version of this mod instead of the 3.8 version.

Problem: First time all went well, second time I can't get the global options anymore. Just saw it once. Did not install any other mods after this mod. Just uninstalled this and installed it again (using overwrite=yes).
When I click on the option "For All Existing Forums" it points to this:

Don't ask me why, but on my forums it opens the smilie list under faq's.
How can this be fixed?

i can acesss all forums option via vb option -> cyb- adva post count options... it was there before when we first set permissions....

EDIT : i sorted it out.. vboptimise was causing CAPBOPC , v3Arcade, options in forum manager edit to disappear.. uninstalled it as its not giving obvious difference

Pity that support is not good on this mod. Almost a month without an answer. But hey, it's free so I won't be too mad.:D
Anyway, found the fix for my problem in post #136. I had not enabled the "enable whole hack" option.
But IMHO this is still a bug if the hack is not enabled, that it points to the smilies page, it should not do that. So maybe this can be fixed in the future.

Yesterday a new user with postcount 0 posted a thread in that forum.

The only excluded usergroups are 5 and 6 which are Supermods and Admins.

How can this happen?

Probably it does but you can better test it.

As far as I know this mod will remove everything, also the extra tables. Not all mods do that, but many or even maybe most which make extra tables, do.
However, you manually have to remove the download directory and the files you place within there.

You need to have set -everything- to YES (and then save first) where you want to use the "for all existing forums" option.
If there is one of them set to NO and you use the all forum option, you will get to the smilies page.
Otherwise put everything to yes, save and then try the "for all existing forums" option and you will see that I'm correct.:)

Normally Cybs hacks are great, but this a bit lazy work I guess because it should be rather easy to give an error notice instead of redirecting to the smilies page.

If every option is set to YES and you saved it, and afterwards you still get to the smilies page, probably another mod is conflicting.
That's more difficult to find

But it's a pity there is so little support on this mod, especially with this issue.

Find the phrase, edit it or add a "translation" and use HTML code to change it as you want...

You might change it to for example:

To make it red.

You can find the phrase by searching for it in Admin CP-> Languages and Phrases -> Search in Phrases.

You (of course) need to add a check for days registered wherever the posts are checked. You could do something like:


$min_days = 3;
$days_registered = floor((TIMENOW - $vbulletin->userinfo['joindate']) / 86400);



Then add "AND ($days_registered >= $min_days)" in the appropriate places. You could also create a new option and use it to set $min_days (or in place of $min_days) instead of using a constant.

Are you adding this check to the mod or creating a different one? If you're adding it, then look at each plugin and find everywhere $vbulletin->userdata[posts] is checked and add this (there were multiple places when I glanced at the code). If you want to have two separate notices then you may have to copy an 'if' block and duplicate it. (It might be easier to change the message to say "and/or you haven't been registered long enough", but that's up to you of course).

I don't want to post the entire solution because I've been told some mod authors don't like that.

That looks like maybe it would work but I think you have a paren problem. I think that one by itself under the word "split" should go down one line so that $min_days has two after it.

Edit: except one other thing...if you were to set $vbulletin->options['apboupc_pm_amount'] option to 0 it wouldn't kick in even if they days registered was too low.

you are correct - I have it set to 15 and I'm the only person who touches the admin panel so this is not a concern of mine.

That's not correct syntax. An if statement has to be

so all parts of the expression have to be inside the outer set of parentheses. What you have is

Quick question: Can I use this mod in conjunction with VB paid subscriptions? I only allow new threads to be created if a user has X number of posts (this mod works great for that). But if a member chooses to do so, they can pay to be bumped up to a usergroup that is allowed to create new threads.

Just I guess I'm really asking which of the two overrides the other....usergroups vs. Cyb-Advanced Perms

I have identified 2 bugs on this product. Hope Valter or any other programmer could share with us the patch instructions:

[BUG 1] If you have enabled the restriction "Post Links/Images/emails" with a minimum post count of X (we'll use X=5 in this example) then a member with less than 5 posts is in fact unable to post any link. But what happens when he wants to report a post? The system will allow him to send the report, however it will not get posted on the moderators forum. Guess why? Yes, because the reports contain links in their body and since this member has lees than 5 posts the system will prevent his report from being posted. Instead of posting the report on the predefined forum it is being sent to all the moderators through email which isn't the expected behavior.

[BUG 2] If you have enabled the restriction "Post Links/Images/emails" with a minimum post count of X (we'll use X=5 in this example) then a member with less than 5 posts is in fact unable to post any image. But what happens if our smart member makes use of "https" in their image link instead of "http"? Something like this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/. Answer is easy: the image will get posted bypassing the restriction of the 5 minimum posts to post images.

Unfortunately 4.4 is the latest vB 3.x version of this mod. The current version is 5.2.1 but only available for vB 4.x series. I don't know if version 5.2.1 still have these bugs but maybe the programmer want to check.

Please fix these bugs and share with us the patch instructions.

The stop links for users is exactly what I've been looking for! I've tried numerous different ones on http://www.saverscene.com.au/forum.php - but they all flash up the message so fast unless you know what it says no one has time to read it and real users tried posting and then just left.

With this mod they actually know what's happening and real users stay around, spam bots get blocked.

It would be great if there is an option for inactive users, who had many posts earlier but now inactive. So, that you can put restrictions on those who have less than 1 post per week for example, and restrict them for a day.
