Flashchat 5 integration with vBulletin 3.8.

Note: This is compatible with Flashchat 5.0.x only, it will not work with Flashchat 4.

* Flashchat 5 is no longer available - this should work with Flashchat 6, but this is not a supported option *

Note:
Standard Flashchat includes vBulletin integration as part of the Tufat supplied files. However, the standard integration does not include Direct Usergroup Integration or other extra's like the WOL Display & Flashchat on a vBulletin page. This Modification adds those features


Extra's added by this modification

* Direct login to a room.
* The WOL will correctly display Flashchat as the location (not 'Unknown Location')
* Flashchat can be displayed embedded inside a 'standard' vBulletin Page (i.e. not full screen).
* Direct Usergroup Integration - a section is added to each usergroup in the ACP Usergroup Manager to set the Flashchat permissions for that group.
* The plugin will try to automatically add a link to Flashchat in your Navbar Quick Links or Community Links - this feature can be disabled if you wish.
* The automatic link can have a prefix path defined - useful if you use something like CMPS.
* You can define a usergroup to login as Flashchats "Spy" mode.


More notes:

* This integration is for Flashchat version 5 only.
* The automatic link feature may fail if you have customised templates (it uses template hooks).
* For Flashchat inside a vBulletin page you need to link to .../misc.php?do=flashchat
* This modification does not add any links to Flashchat Administration in the ACP.
* You can set all members to login direct to particular room via the ACP.
* You can also add a room parameter to the url - i.e. .../misc.php?do=flashchat&room=3
* Spys can login into the chat but are not listed in the room - they cannot chat, just watch.

The CMS file assumes that you are installing Flashchat in your forum root folder i.e. (/forums/chat/) - this is the same folder as your usercp.php file and includes folder. Installation will fail if you do not do this.

Support: This modification is no longer supported. Please check the instructions, and make sure you have uploaded any files to the correct location - the vast majority of problems reported are due to an error made in editing or uploading files.

Finally, I am not Tufat.com (http://www.tufat.com) or Flashchat Support - if you have questions about Flashchat, their forums are here (http://www.tufat.com/forum/index.php).

To use the this upgraded integration simply download and unzip the file, then follow the instructions in the text file. Once installed, the Flashchat userlevel options for each usergroup will appear in the ACP usergroup edit screens - editing of the CMS file will no longer be required.

I was successfully able to install this in vb 3.8 and have marked as installed. This is my first time adding any chat stuff to my forums. Thanks a lot for your work.

You may want to add a note to your installation instructions that the /forums/chat/ directory suggested in the FC installation instructions is the correct directory to install it. As you could tell from my post, I felt like the words in red above suggest that I needed to install directly into /forums/ rather than /forums/chat/.

I'm going to set about configuring it now. Thanks again for your work.

One Very minor thing I'd like to do, and you'd think it would be simple.
You said you were using template hooks to add flashchat to the quick links page.

Where could you change that to show up under the community link instead ?
I'd like to do it with the hooks, and not a template edit.

that's a setting in the admin section of flash-chat. Probably wasn't answered cause it's not really a function of the integration, as much as it's a function of flash-chat.

Don't understand why 4.7 chat can install with no issues (other than I can't integrate anything into it because of 3.8 vbulletin) but 5.0.10 will not install properly

Everything is fine when viewing the chatroom outside of vBulletin (chat/flashchat.php). Usergroup permissions are set the way they should be. Any ideas?

Edit: Another thing, on this error page, all the links are not right. For example, the New Posts link is: chat.php/search.php?do=getnew. Everything is going after chat.php instead of the site root. What's wrong?

What can i do to fix the missing security token whenever i click on anyones profile in the chat? but when i hit GO again on the browser itll take me to whoevers profile i want to see but I would think you had a patch or something to edit to fix the security token issue

I'm pretty sure my question belongs at Tufat and not here but any idea where I would look in the flashchat code to fix the security token error when clicking on the profile link in flashchat after clicking on a persons name?

There is a thread here (http://forum.tufat.com/showthread.php?t=55304) about it that references a Paul M fix which is why I made my way back over here.

A point in the right direction to the "fix file" would be appreciated, thanks!

I don't think it's Paul's hack causing the blank page. It's the new (and very buggy) ACP of FlashChat.

The blank page appears as soon as you have edited the 'General settings' from the configuration page and saved it.

This worked for me: Upload chat/install.php and the folder chat/install_files to your server, then run install.php again. >> Everything is working fine including Paul's hacks.

At least until you edit FlashChat 'general settings' again....

I've installed this and been using it a week and its great! but! I made a new usergroup and copied it off another group that has no problems using the chatroom and they can't enter... anyone know what I can do?

They have user level access and it doens't work so I tried mod level and it still doesn't work....

Yeah, the only usergroups that work for me are Registered Users and Administrators.

Also, last night FC started substituting numbers with words out of the badwords list.

One of our users, whose username is MP 5 Monster, was showing as MP Dildo Monster!! LOL! One of the other users name is "203". You don't want to know what his name was showing as.... I had to delete all of the words out of the filter to get it to stop.

FC5 certainly has some problems, and it doesn't appear it is being supported.

certainly does seem to be some issues with Flashchat 5...
in private message windows, the first letter of every message has to be typed twice.
the mute check boxes work backwards.

on the other hand, it does seem to run faster and smoother than the previous versions.

I have the missing token error when someone clicks on a user profile as well. The only CMS file I can get to work is the one that comes with FC. The others all cause FC to ask for a user login.

It is a pretty simple install, I am not sure how one could incorrectly install it.

Ok everything went, well OK its installed. I skipped the bot step. But now when I click on flashchat in the drop down a page opens and a log in appears. It does not auto log in. I have tried entering my username and password. Still nothing. Any ideas??

That is a flashchat setting, nothing to do with this modification.

Except that when Flashchat is run as standalone without your mod, and I click the logout button it behaves as it should, closing the window as directed and popping up the homepage in a new window, as directed.

On your previous version of this mod, there was a setting we needed to change in the code, to redirect chat upon logout to the homepage, as _parent.... and that worked fine.

But in FC5 it?s not possible, a New Window open with the Forum index.

Like I said, this is a Flashchat setting, even in FC4.

I simply provided instructions on how to modify the FC4 config as it was quite simple to do. FC5 uses a totally different system for config changes, you need to ask Flashchat support.

That path is coming from vbulletin, cant imagine why it is wrong - but since the correct filename is getxml then the mod will not recognise chatgetxml.

Hi guys,

Tried to install this today and am not having much luck.

When I first tried I got onto stage 2, the tables were created etc. but instead of moving to stage 3 I got a blank page.

Now whenever I try to reinstall I get File writing functions exists: No and File rename permission: No errors. I've 777'd the temp/appdata folders as suggested in previous problems of this nature, and the furl_open wotsit is on.

Any ideas what the problem could be? I'm trying to install a vBulletin install if that helps.

There doesnt seem to be any recognisable reason why. some moderators cant access, some registered users cant - it doesnt seem to be related to usergroups.

I have checked the install, rechecked the install and made every check possible.

It's working for the vast majority of users but for a select few they are not auto logged in - they are asked for a user pass and this is rejected despite entering their forum credentials.

Do you have any idea what could possibly cause this?

I guess I want separate users to be forum moderators and chat room moderators. I don't want them linked, if that makes sense. I want some users to have added permissions in the forums and some different users to have added permissions in the chat room. Make sense? I have a staff team with different tasks and responsibilities, and I want some of them able to "moderate" the chat room (so to speak), while others, a different usergroup, moderates the forums.

Does that make sense?

I'm sure this has happened to others, but I couldn't find any mention of it.

After long days of getting the whole thing figured out, I finally got Flashchat and the bot installed correctly... and I did install the 3.8 add-on which works beautifully.

In Flashchat there are so many hoops to jump through and so many lines of code that need to be repaired -- after it's already been uploaded and then has to be fixed and uploaded again, and again and again -- that I'm not sure I'd do it again if I knew what the process entailed. But that's not the problem anymore. The chat room and the bot are installed.

But the problem is, now I have an absolute genius bot on a direct link to the server -- the chat/bot/programe/src/talk.php link -- but the same bot in my chat room is a lot more like a bumbling fool. Sure, he answers simple questions, but his IQ is probably about 80 whereas the same bot on a direct link is probably 180 or higher.

I'm not nearly as computer literate as a lot of people around here, but the one thing I'm pretty sure of is the likelihood that I caused this problem by neglecting to do something during the set-up... make that set-ups... and pluralize that to the nth degree.

Anyway, I've got a dual-personality bot on my hands... or a schizophrenic. One's a genius and the other's nearly a moron. Same bot.

Yes, I did tweak the start-up file. Yes, I uploaded more than the standard set of AIML files. I've done almost everything that everyone recommends. But obviously I overlooked one small step somewhere in the process. And right now I'm almost too tired to type because I've spent -- looking at clock -- 28 straight hours working to get a clean install of that bot. The chat room is a breeze compared to the bot... well ... nice to hear from you. I didn´t want to mail you directly, because you said you haven´t time for support. And on top of that, FC is not your product.

However ... yes, there seem to be different URLs for the Forums, some of them are working and some not. Some of theire Links are still pointing to "https://", and using that url will cause problems. I found ist is mcuh easier to discard the "s".

However, I didn´t find a solution, but it seems like FC 5 is still very buggy. Would you also recomment to stay with 4.7 for the moment? I tried to install FC5 for two days now, but it seems like I should give it up. I can´t get it working.

I would like to add Chat rules but I can't find out how to add anything in the footer where the (C) is - The only place I can see if in the .xml file which would mean I'd have to uninstall and install to simply add to the footer... I just recently downloaded the newest version of FlashChat (5.0.11) and was preparing the integration when I noticed a huge problem. It seems as though TUFAT.com has update the "flashchat_inc.php" file and has excluded the rewrites needed as stated in the integration instructions.

So what do I do now? I have no way of editing the "flashchat_inc.php" file now that the code is different. Should I just run the integration upload without rewriting "flashchat_inc.php"?

Having looked today, they have actually altered 5.0.11 to set transparent mode themselves, so that step is no longer needed - its done by default.

There is no AdminCP main page in this hack, it my AdminCP addon hack to this one you are talking about, and yes, it is supposed to work that way. Any other questions in regards to my hacks, please ask in my hack threads, as Paul M will not know what you are talking about.

i've managed to call the chat up in an iframe and have it on the main page... only thing now is that i get the header and the forum menus inside this iframe..

Its either saying their details arent recognised .. or says they are already in the room ... when they haven't even been in it yet..

I started having usergroup duplications any time I made an edit in the usergroup after installing Flashchat5 and the integration.

We used to have flashchat 4 and worked OK.

Now with 5.0 installed anytime I make even the slightest change to a usergroup I get a duplicate usergroup with the new changes but the original group which contains the members remains unchanged.

If I disable the integration plugin I can edit my usergroups and it works fine.

Any thoughts?

The difference is that the hack at tufat is FlashChat itself and this is a hack is to integrate FlashChat into vBulletin.

As Mosh says, you must get Flashchat itself from Tufat, this is mearly to improve the integration with vb. BTW, Flashchat is free, as long as you dont want the source code (which 99% of people dont).

I recently upgraded from vB 3.68 to 3.83. I installed FC 5.0.1.0 in March of this year and its' still working with FC integration 3.57
I'd like to add the number of members in the chat next to the Chat link on the navbar.
Does this version of Integration do that?

Paul I have a huge amount of respect for you. I'm just one of those people who gives it my best shot before crying to the guy who made the "Free Mod" I'm using. If I can help a few others out along the way then great.

As I recall, his issue was an incorrect filename being returned from vbulletin. He never responded further, so the reason for that was never found (or maybe he did, just never posted it).

Hey Paul, I just re-installed flashchat, to fix some bugs, and also re-installed the integration products. For some reason now, Flashchat will allow all users to log in, even users in the unregistered group, even tho I have them set for no access. in the usergroup manager.

Any thoughts?

Flashchat is a seperate application supplied by Tufat, which you must install first.

After uploading the new vbulletin38CMS.php from this mod, the profile link no longer works.

Checking debug mode, it's returning the error:
vBulletin 3.8 : Integration Error 06 : Unable to load user information.

I was able to get the profile link to work again by replacing the profile section of the code from this mod:

Well its failing to read the user data, no idea why tho, since its must do that elsewhere ok for integration to work.

As an FYI, for those trying to install flashchat 5, I did this on my forum and had similar problems to the posts above with not being able to install it. Here is what one of the moderators at tufat says (http://forum.tufat.com/showpost.php?p=246941&postcount=8%22):

point is that 4.7.12 has been the most stable version for some time now. Version 5 there has been one issue after another so instead of doing any more fixes to version 5 being it's been one nightmare after another Darren is working on version 6. He has good help on this version and is working out the bugs much faster then I've seen on any version sense version 3. So your more then welcome to keep using version 5 but your going to have to wait until a user here has a solution. The development team is working on version 6 and throwing version 5 away.
So basically, if you haven't installed flashchat 5 already, don't bother. It's listed as stable but both unstable and abandoned. They need to make their customers more aware of this before taking steps to remove other hacks and install these new ones. You can easily tie up 4-5 hours trying to install then trying to find answers and screwing around before you realize they actually had so many issues with flaschat 5 they simply abandoned it.

Yeah, FC 6.0.6 and vB3.8.x with this mod does not work. There are many things that have to be specific to 5.x.

I am running FC 6.0.6 with it's built-in vB 4.0 'integration' but all that really does is allow you to use the member database for username/password and admin/mod/user stuff. Very basic intergration.

Hope to see this evolve to a FC 6.0.6 and vB 4.0 mod as it was one of the best mods for what it was designed for.

I would guess a few things have changed in Flashchat 6.

I have FC 6.0.6 installed on my vb4 test forum (Hangar 18 (http://www.paulmarsden.org/vb/40a/)), but just using the standard Tufat integration atm (which I actually wrote).

At some point i'll look at upgrading the Who is Chatting and Integration mods for FC6 (possibly for 3.8 as well as 4.0, I'll have t see how much effort it is).

Loaded FC 6.06 With Paul's 3.8 integration. Everything worked for me but not my members. (invalid user name or password)

My remedy:

During the install of tufat's FC I selected my version vb 3.8 I then took Paul's vbulletin40.php and copy and pasted everything from // Initialise CMS // on down,, to my vbulletin38php and click save. The key element I found was to leave all the files in the inc/cmses folder in tact. I tried just leaving the vbulletin38.php stand alone but what happend was the buttons and input area did not load. :eek: So I put all the files back and boom everything worked.

I'm no coder so I could not tell you why it works for me and my members now but it dose. I'm using the free version for now to evaluate it. So far so good.

today @ afternoon i installed this Add-on. @ afternoon it works great. But now i become this message, when i log in admin panel:

This happend to me after install this addon everything worked but i noticed in the admin the CMS was set to stateless and when attempting to set it back to vBulletin 3.8 there was no option higher than vBulletin 3.6 so i reloaded page and checked again no go so i changed a setting on the lower half of the page for some other options like themes etc and soon as i cliked save it saved the stateless and returned that error, logging in gave the background of chat only like the guy above. d/l the file you directed him to and uploaded it to the chat/admin/ dir and reloded admin page then set FlashChat to use vBulletin 3.8 saved changes and everything seems to be working now.

Hi guys, I have noticed that the only mention of FC6.x integration with vB centers around vB4 which is understandable but based on LeatherNeck's encouraging post I decided to do an upgrade to FC6.0.7 and it has taken a bit of stuffing around for me to get to the point where I think it is going to be possible to live with it.

I had to enter the config and ensure my user groups were correctly defined and then with the permissions set in the usergroups users can use the chat; but there is no admin access for me at all and I am a bit confused as to why that may be...

when I try to access the ./forums/chat/admin/index.php
I get a pure white page (no source) and when trying to do the admincp integration from Mosh https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=194784 which worked for Version 5 (which of course it was released for) I see the admin panel options but I get blank admin main panels when I select the options.

So I am sort of stuck with how to admin the chat. I am starting to look at the ways that this can be done in the configs manually - as for the user groups - but if I can get to the bottom as to why I am getting the white pages and so on I would appreciate it.

Paul, I know that your integration is not for version 6 and so I may have to start up a general discussion thread for this but, as I say, with the encouraging post from combat-evolved I thought I'd try and if anyone has had this before becuase its something silly I have done then I may get some help.
