Not sure if this is the best place to ask, so feel free to move.

We are considering adding a new BBCode to our forum for strikethrough text. Easy enough to actually add, but I'm wondering what sort of load or performance impact additional BBCode(s) cause? We have over 500,000 threads and over 6 million posts. Is it a viable option to add this additional BBCode?

I -believe- bbcode is parsed at page load, so you wouldn't notice a difference.

How would you not notice a different?

With such a massive/active forum, has to parse that additional BB code every single time.... just wondering whether it's negligible or something that strongly needs to be considered...

No, as you most likely have posts cached, all the parsing is already done. Therefore, the parsing is not done every time someone views that post, but rather, only when the cached post expires.
