Hi Guys,

Just noticed over the past few days my forums are a bit wonky

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/01/90.png

Can you see the the last post cell in the middle category is smaller than the ones top and bottom. I remember seeing something like this before here, but i've not managed to locate it.

Anyone have any ideas??

Happy new year Guys and Gals

:D

You've changed the style so they are all separate tables. There really is no surefire way to make sure they are all exactly same when they are separate tables. You can try putting in widths for the columns (like they do here), but that is about the best you can do and that isn't going to make them the same 100% of the time.

By separating the forums....there is a post somewhere on here that explains the template edits to separate your forums and create fixed widths as Lynne described to fix this.

I will see if I can find it.....

I would guess the style just has the forum categories separated. If you look at vb.com, the categories are not separated like they are here at vb.org (and on your site). I'm talking about a style, not some setting or anything.

How To Change the Width of the Forum List Columns...

Had a little play around and found out that i'd got this mod installed https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=123713

I disabled it and everything looked ok again, abeit the categories were not seperated. I read through Jake's VB.com's explanation on How To Put A Space Between Each Forum Category, and the same thing happened, i've been changing templates now for the past hour and a half and then realised its a lot of hassle for very little.

Although its nice to have seperate categories, not at the expense of having a wonky forum, I'll wait until someone sorts this out before using it again.

Glad that all it was as i was a bit worried that i'd messed my forums up.

Thanks Dyna88 and Lynne for your quick responses ;)

Well i've got in touch with the guy that did my skin, with my wonky forum problem and the answer was soooooo simple that i fixed it in seconds

Goto> vbulletin options> Forum Listings Display Options> scroll down> find> Last Thread Title Maximum Displayed Characters > set to 20 and save...

Thats it,

Now you can seperate your forums, and get them to display correctly.

Thanks Miner your a diamond!!! :D

There are actually two ways to solve this problem, both very simple. 1) change the max. displayed chars., 2) change the width of the column that displays the thread title.

Thanks Dismounted, yesterday it seems i was doing everything the hard way first, you wouldn't believe how fed up i got doing all those template changes and getting nowhere. Even on the mod's own thread, its all about the template changes :(

Imagine when i did that little change in the VB options and saw that it worked, I couldn't get to the fridge quick enough to grab a beer :D

Its nice to know that there are some simple solutions out there

I just looked at your site, and it is still "Wonky" and out of line.
Am I missing something?
Do guests get a different view perhaps?

I've had the same problem for over 12 months....but finally cured it last week with the template edits using percentages for the widths.
