Not really any good as it would use the subjects from the standard 'Contact us' form

I basically want to make a different kind of form that will send an email to the admin
edit the subject line then ;)
Subject line?
the settings in the standard contact form inserts the subjects available

OK, if you don't want to start with sendmessage.php, then start with one of these - How to create your own vBulletin-powered page! (uses vB templates) (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=62164) or [How-To] vBulletin API Basics: Creating Custom Pages & Misc. (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=98009) - then google "php forms" and you can write your own without the standard subject (although why you wouldn't want to just remove that part from sendmessage.php instead, I don't know).

If you want a very easy solution then try http://jotform.com/
We use it on some of our sites. However there are plenty of good form scripts available in php etc.
