So beta or alpha relised?
Huh? From what I heard, it's:
1. Alpha Testing is fully on private boards by private testers
2. Beta Testing is for the people who got accepted into the beta testing program to test on public forums.
3. Final release is for everyone. Not that I agree with that strategy.

This thing that has always made vB the best is its community and IB has totally stripped the community away from vB. All we are now are customers who give them money, we no longer have a say in the product, and its quite clear that they don't want our feedback either.
Exactly.

Up to now ... There is noway for administrators to limit visitor message on 3.8 versions ...
Any user can post Unlimited number of visitor message! and there is noway for Administrators to mass delete them !!
There are a lot of settings and tools for Private messages ... but there is no way to mass delete or limit the visitor messages ...
for example visitor messages can be stay in forums for years !! and can be more than forum posts ... and take more database than posts ...
Would you please plan some kind of tools for admins to limit or mass delete the visitor messages for vBulletin 4 version ? ( similar to the tools that exist for Private messages ? )
Thank you

Any user can post Unlimited number of visitor message! and there is noway for Administrators to mass delete them !!
You can limit them by usergroup. Individuals can also limit their page to friends and contacts only.
You can delete all visitor messages left by a single person from the Quick User Links dropdown on their user profile in the Admin CP.
You can see all new Visitor Messages from your own User CP in the moderation section at the bottom of the left hand navigation. Standard inline moderation options are provided. You can also see moderated and deleted visitor messages from the same area and either approve or delete them permanently.
All of these are currently in the current version.

All of these are currently in the current version. To delete a single user's VMs or Social Groups discussion messages are very time consuming. That is the worst idea I have ever heard. -> To go around to everyone's profile and delete them or have the user delete them for you. Not very many users care about how much the site costs YOU.
Pruning visitor messages have been suggested here on vBulletin.com:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=276470
and here (by me):
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=313546
It has been a growing concern and most administrators do not realize it yet how much these visitor messages or social group dicussion messages are growing one's database. hope the links help.

Well for Visitor Messages, you can go to the User's Profile in the Admin CP and select "Delete all Visitor Messages sent by user" of the Quick User Tools Menu.

I hope you integrated some PM attachments system in vB 4.0 because that is really necessary

The comment is helpful and very much appreciated.
Even though one has to login through the AdminCP, the Administrator still has to go to each individual profile and do a delete of all messages. Site Administrators do not have 10 users they can quickly go and delete, but hundreds, thousands, or tens-of-thousands of users you would have to go and individual delete Visitor Messages.
I do not think any of us want to delete all of them. The solution we are seeking is trimming back 20-100 most recent visitor messages, for example.
This reply might help clarify what is being requested. :)

Yeah, that is a completely different suggestion than what I quoted which is why I quoted that portion only.
Personally, I see no need to limit visitor messages. They take up very little disk space and use very little bandwidth. However it would be easy for a programmer to create a simple cron job to plug into vBulletin. That is why the scheduled tasks system is modular and expandable.

Will it be possible for Vbulletin4 to be able to send visitor messages to contacts/friends only, all in one go?
Instead of going into each individual profile and writing a message.
Or is this more of mod/hack thing??

He shorten it. I'm sure he meant, vbulletin.com.

Marco, vb.com is Virtual Banks.
And vb.org is Victory Baptist Church. It's just an abbreviation we use around here.

Any update on how the Alpha is going lately?
This should be good.
If you make it too easy to style though, us vbulletin skinners will lose our buisness' because everyone will be able to do it all.
Never the less, it should be good.
Cant wait :)

We don't know when it's coming out, but as long as you have a license, you can upgrade for free, PROVIDING that license is current.

However, just because you can easily skin, doesn't mean you skin well.

Aint that the truth.
I can hack a skin to death, but designing one? Bah
Back on target, this year? Possible. It'd be very, very nice to see!!! Of course, I'm biased, as if it comes out in the next year I'll get it for free (due to licenses being renewed, etc), but still ;)
