What Does This Hack Do?hr
This is an update to my 3.7.x version of this hack, with the addition of show additional links to view your threads or posts from a forum you are browsing (if you not in a forum, the links do not appear).

This is a simple hack that adds extra options on the Search drop down list on the navbar which allows your members to search for their own posts and threads start by themselves.

There are no file or template changes at all, and is fully phrased.

This was a request by odeezie in post #22 of this thread.

This messed up my admin panel. I tried to edit the usergroups to allow them to view this in the menu and instead of editing the usergroup, it created a new custom group so now I have custom groups for administrator, moderator, etc. with the permission to view the on the menu but no change to the original group i tried to edit. Then I went in and checked to see if those custom groups had permission and they did not. If i tried to give the custom group permission, it created yet another custom group. I tried uninstalling this product but the option block is still on the usergroup permissions page except there is nothing written in the option block. I tried editing a different permission for my admin account and now I get this error. I can't change any permissions on my usergroups at all now!

I deleted bitfield_ms_vopt_38.xml from my xml folder and reinstalled the old version. My usergroups are still messed up. No matter what edits I make to them, it just creates a new custom group that I also can't edit. I've checked on my forum that does not have this hack installed at all and there is no problem over there so I know it's not vb 3.8.1 that caused this problem. I also disabled the only other hack I upgraded today (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=199975) and I'm still having the problem. Even when I disable the old version of this hack, I have this problem. This is a pretty big deal and I need a fix for this!

Hi Mosh,

my users tell me, that the version for 3.7 of your mod showed them the threads instead of the posts after clicking on "view your posts"?

I don't remember, but can I do anything to get this button to behave like that?

Neither version of this hack behaves like that. There have always been two links, one for the threads, the other for the posts, and has been since I released this hack.

That was because the ms_vopt_permissions field was deleted and the bitfield was still there.

If you have deleted bitfield_ms_vopt_38.xml from your xml folder and you are still having the error Unknown column 'ms_vopt_permissions' in 'field list', then the bitfield file is still there, and has not been deleted.

I am pretty sure this problem is due to mixing up old and new versions of this hack.

Make sure you delete the bitfield file, un-install the product, and check the following:

In the AdminCP, select Maintenance -> Execute SQL Query and run the following query:

describe usergroup;

If there is a ms_vopt_permissions entry in the Field column, then running the following query will get rid of it:
ALTER TABLE usergroup DROP ms_vopt_permissions;

That should fix your problem up. If it does not, then post back with the exact error.

Yes, I thought it behaved like that.

Interested in adding a feature like "my answers"?
The lines for search.php looks like that:

<tr>
<td class="vbmenu_option"><a href="search.php?$session[sessionurl]do=process&exactname=1&searchtype=1&userid=$bbuserinfo[userid]">my answers</a>
</td>
</tr>

I don't want to hack your mod and it seems to be a very usefull search type for the users.
Thanks for your work and time anyway. :)

Do what ever you like to do with it.

I think you should make it default that this is enabled for all usergroups. Due to my board's own weird purposes, I have well over 100 usergroups and now have to go in and edit each one, unless you might know a query I could run to set them all to yes. I don't know enough to figure that part out (lol) - I would imagine in most cases, this woudl be an option people would want all usergroups to have anyway, or at least the majority of their usergroups...

UPDATE usergroup SET ms_vopt_permissions = 3;

That will enable both view posts and view threads to enabled for every usergroup.

Nothing is showing. Is there a hook I need somewhere that I may not have in my template?

Also have this add-on installed: Member Search on Search Dropdown, 3.0

Nevermind. I'm such a dunce. It was there.

It would be better if it had a Heading Section so it wasn't mixed in with other stuff, so idiots like me wouldn't miss it. Something like "My Posts".

What is the basis of this? This hack has been installed on more than 200 sites (on 3 different vBulletin versions, I use this on my sites too) that do not have a problem at all, this hack has nothing to do with tags, and if you had a problem, why have you never elaborated on exactly what the problem was? So, not knowing what the problem was, how could I have possibly have helped?

Hi Mosh,

This hack looks really good thanks. Im also wondering if it would be possible to add a "View Your Threads" link in the NavBar itself rather than the search?

I made another thread asking about this here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=223513

If you have any ideas please let me know.

Hey! I've installed this product and uninstalled, then my permissions on user groups for registered members have changed to don't "allow images in signatures", then I set it to allow and still not appearing the pictures.. just in the preview. I've delete the bitfield file too etc etc run query and nothing.

What can I do to fix it, please??

Did you do this?

Steps 1 & 2 of the uninstall instructions? If you did, then do the following:

In the AdminCP, select Maintenance -> Execute SQL Query and run the following query:

describe usergroup;

If there is not a ms_vopt_permissions entry in the Field column, then the hack is completely uninstalled and can not be causing the issue.

If there is a ms_vopt_permissions entry in the Field column, then running the following query will get rid of it:
ALTER TABLE usergroup DROP ms_vopt_permissions;

Then this hack will be completely uninstalled, and if your problem is still persists then this hack is not the cause of your issues.

No, there's no ms_vopt_permissions entry in the field column. :confused:

What can be doing this?? All other plugins/products doesn't need to change images permissions in signatures. Before I uninstall this product totally, permissions to images signature was off. Then I set to Yes and it gives me an db error, because I didn't delete bitfield of this product.

After that, the db error disappeared and the options set to Allow imgs. Now some users can add imgs and others not.. For example, I can add images with my account, but with other regular account I can't. And with other one that I try everything's ok.

I'm confused. Do u know what can be causing this problem?

Thanks (and sorry my bad english :))

You are probably going to need to login to the vBulletin Members Area (http://members.vbulletin.com/) and create a support ticket with vbulletin to see if they can fix the issue, as I support this hack only and not vBulletin itself.

Hi all,

It is with regret that after over 4 years (and thousands of hours) spent providing free support for my free hacks released here, as of today I will no longer be able to provide support for free.

This is due to being unemployed for a while, being strapped for cash and unable to rely on the virtually non-existent donations from here to help to pay the bills or put food on the table for my family. I am now providing all support for my free hacks released here over at Wolfshead Solutions (http://www.wolfshead-solutions.com) via an annual support subscription (for a small fee).

It does not mean I will be no longer release free hacks, I will, but I will just no longer be supporting them for free.

My free hacks have and always will remain free to download and use. And so will updates/bug fixes.

I will be releasing more free hacks, but if you require any support at all for those free hacks, you will need to purchase an annual support subscription over at Wolfshead Solutions to receive support.

I am really sorry I have to do this, but revenue generated by my programming gigs are now my only source of income, and I can no longer afford the luxury of providing free support here, when that time can be spent creating new commercial products, doing paid work requests or providing paid support to pay the bills.

Thank you for the understanding.

Regards,

Mosh.
