I think its a good Topic, a clean layout, maybe try adding some features to make it fun for a community

I have to agree, the style is a little dull. I never could quite put my finger on why this was such a dullified looking style and I came to the conclusion that it was the alt1& alt2 areas that are the cause of the blandness. Tweak around in changing the colours/using alternative gradients to bring the whole style out of the closet or something like that.
The logo is also awfully dull. Check out the amount of grey within the repeated area? It's not doing the visual look any justice. Again, re-colour the whole logo and text so your breaking away from the blue and dull grey used throughout.
The forum status icons are a little generic for a religious orientated forum. Fine if you are a resource site but try and replace the generic icons which compliments the religious theme you have going.
Another good suggestion i always make is to replace all the deafult vbulletin stock images. Being saturated they are only adding that dullness to your theme.
Withall that said, The visuals is only a small part of your forum that you need to work on. You also need to provide the content to entice guests to register and harder still keep those registered members interested in sticking around.
