can someone please tell me what this hack is called?

i have vbulletin 3.7.4 installed.

i want my users information to be on the left hand side when they post.

That's not a hack. That's postbit_legacy.

Assuming that they didn't move it in 3.7, you should be able to find it at
AdminCP > vB Options > Style and Language Settings > Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template > Set to yes
