Hi guys. :)
I'm having a strange problem with my own posts and pms.
All of my posts when posted have several spaces between paragraphs instead of just one space, and I have to edit each post afterwards to close these enormous gaps.
Secondly, when I send a pm it appears to my recipient like this:

What's going on? It's only happening to me!

Do you have some modification that only allows html for you?
Try disabling your plugins and see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Hi Lynne. :)
Thanks for the suggestion, but my posts still have the same spacing problem and although I'm still waiting for one of my mods to send my pm back to me, I suspect he's going to tell me it's still full of code.
I have allowed HTML for all groups in pm's, siggies and posts.
I'm using the following plug-ins:
1. Cyb - Advanced Forum Rules
2. Cyb - Advanced Forum Statistics
3. Cyb - Advanced Permissions Based on Post Count
4. Cyb - PayPal Donate
5. Members who have Visited
6. Prevent Doubleposts
7. Separate Sticky and Normal Threads
8. TCattd - The Image Resizer
9. vBadvanced CMPS (which is currently disabled)
10. Stop the Registration Bots (currently disabled while I do a fix provided by the coder)
11. vbStopForumSpam
12. vBulletin Blog (currently disabled as I haven't has time to design it yet)
13. Welcome Headers
Not sure if that's any help. ;)

Enabling html will add extra lines in the code. I've noticed this, and so have a few others (there have been threads about it).
If you create a new default vb style and use it to send and receive PMs, do you still have the problem? To create a new default style - Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Add New Style > no parent

Thanks Lynne - that seems to have completely cured it using a test style with no parent. How do I translate this cure to my default style?

Since this is a PM problem, I'd take a look at all pm related templates that are in RED (that means they've been changed) and click it to Edit, then View History, Compare yours to Jelsofts, and copy/paste in the differences. Or you could revert but then you lose and changes you made.

I had edited two private message templates so I saved the last edit to history and reverted them both. Unfortunately it hasn't worked I'm still getting code in my pm's (only the ones sent from my account, as has always been the problem) and I'm still getting enormous spaces between paragraphs in my posts.

You need to continue to look and compare your templates. It is definitely somewhere in your style that is causing the problem.

Ahh thanks Lynne - eventually found the culprit! It was my editor_toolbar_on template, so now I'm going to go through it bit by bit and see which bit exactly was causing the trouble. Thanks again for all your help! :)

Glad you figured it out. Sometimes it's a frustrating process to go through those templates!

Tell me about it! :p But now I've fixed that I have to go through the troubleshooting guide for white screens because we're getting an intermittant one when people click on random links. I'm completely rebuilding my default style to try and dig out the culprit for that while going through the troubleshooting guide. I might come up for air soon. :D

White screens! We had some yesterday. I decided to blame them on the web server. Sometimes I think the servers are human and do things just to get attention. :)

Not you too! I'm starting to think these white screens are a bit of an epidemic. I'm wondering what I'm going to do if the troubleshooting guide doesn't turn anything up. I've already established that my host are happy the database has been set up properly and they've got no issues their end.... we'll see what I find over the weekend!
