Email post to a friend???

In many forums some of the posts are very informative and useful. A great way would be to add a button similar to the one blow to email the Post or article to a friend.

The Mod would allow members to email the whole post to a friend, along the same lines as the "Invite a Friend" Mod

Can anyone see a way to write a hack like this, Not only will it allow members to email parts of a thread, but it could also gain extra new members that would sign up to the site.

There is the Email this Page in the Thread Tools drop-down, but that puts a link to the thread in the body of the message (although you may add to the message body prior to it being sent). It sounds like you are proposing that all the text in the thread be sent instead of just a link?

Thats right Lynne, i'd like the whole post to be sent directly from the button on the post, It may be a great way to promote some quality posts and tempt new members to join, Mind you I guess a link may suffice, that way folk will have to view the post from the site as oppose to reading it from an email.

Is there a way we could use the above image and add it next to the "thanks" Button on the posts, and have it clickable to the VB "Email this page" I think if its there in front of you, members are more liable to use it more, Must admit not everyone pops into the Thread Tools Drop down ;)

Part of the problem you will run into are permissions problems. What if the user is in a private forum? Do you think the Admin or users want what they posted in there to be sent out to someone who is not a member of the private forum? The reason they use a link to the thread is so they can still apply permissions to the thread.
