We would like to allow Flash embedding in one of our forum sections. Is it possible to do so without allowing full HTML?

You could make a custom bbcode. There may be a flash embed bbcode already on vB.org --> https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=191926&highlight=flash+bbcode

Its a major security risk to allow users to embed flash, its probably worse than allowing HTML itself, they'll easily be able to exploit your members, or redirect visitors out of threads into other sites.
But now that you know the draw backs, you'll need to create a custom bbCode, here is a good one to use: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=124387

What is a better approach?
I've seen a plugin that automatically converted video site links into embedded flash, but did not know what it was called. Would anyone happen to know what I'm referring to?
